spiderpigcity
I have just done a 6 speed conversion on my auto tt. I have put the 6 speed aux belt tensioner and plastic pulley on it. Would it be better to take the metal pulley off the auto tensioner and fit it to the tensioner from the 6 speed ? As it will last longer than a plastic one, or is it something to do with the weight? Swampy442
Tensioners dont match to gearboxes, no such thing as a 6 speed tensioner. If the bearing is Ok on the metal one Id use that.

dude
I don't think you can swap wheels dude, the bearings are diff for sure.
Chris Wilson
Tensioners do match the transmissions on the 2JZ-GTE. Manual have a different tensioner arm with a damper. It was for the US market mainly where their general inability to change gear manually often saw them putting things in second rather than fourth, and the torque reversal would shock the belt off. A damper cures that problem at least The metal pulley allows the bearing to be changed when it wears or goes noisy. The plastic ones are moulded around the bearing. The original pulley part is not sold separately, new. You have to buy the whole assembly. An auto tensioner on a manual driven correctly by an Englishman is fine. stevie_b
You can swap wheels Chris, just to clarify, do you mean it's possible to swap a plastic wheel for a metal one without removing the tensioner arm from the engine?
