Fraid I don't know if this is possible or not - I know the Tipto has a load of electronics and different ECU ins and outs (ask Pete Betts!) - I still have an FTO which was Tiptronic already, but I got some Infra Red transponders to transfer up and down shifting to buttons on my hand controls (were designed for wireless wheel mounting really) - so - dunno ??? Do you drive with your left hand only, and no right? Would you have enough fingers / dexterity / grip to hold the wheel, turn it (I use a steering knob for quick turning requirements) as well as clicking buttons? In my set up I brake / accellerate and half hold the wheel with my right hand - main steering and wheel holding is accomplished with my left - also up and down shifting is easy - so hopefully you wouldnt have a prob! It's like a fekkin Playstation with a steering wheel :-) R
Adam W
I would imagine the Tiptonic system is pretty bloody complicated. A simpler option would be to adopt full manual valvebody control like the yanks do with their TH350 and TH400 autos for drag racing. No idea how feasible this is though. Between my left hand and my knee:) Looks like people arent hearing the tiptronic, ahh well would have been nice.
Syed Shah
If you have enough money (6k+?) then go for it! I would suspect a gearbox transplant and a new ECU.
Steve W
As Syed says.... When thinking, Auto-to-Manual, N/A-to-TT, or as hundreds think, petrol-to-diesel, it's MUCH cheaper to just sell-up and buy the real thing (and, it's 'original' ). ONLY reason for conversions is 'cos you WANT to do it ! FatS.
