Gear stick - sloppy movement.

Hi

 

Have noticed that the Gear stick/selection is a bit sloppy.

 

When I have in gear, then I can still move it left and right about 5 cm`s in total.

 

And also the gearchange don´t seem very "tight"

 

What do I need to change to get this back to normal?

What box is it? Could be play in the remote shifter bushes, worn bush inside the selector

Open it up, the blots might not be tight enough.

I'd go with Swampy's suggestion - worn/blown out nylon shifter mechanism bushes. w58/v16*/r154 all have them. They can be a bit of a pain to swap as the rear of the box will ideally to be dropped down. They're about £10 each (two needed) and need a bit of compression to get fitted.

Yep, those are the ones

 

Although I'd get 33575A too (Not sure that is the 2nd P/N you quoted), those are the ones that have the nylon centres that most often wear

Maybe, cant see the bush Im on about listed Maybe its part of the shifter assembly
