Silicone spray in foglight assembly?

One of my foglight has massive rust in it so I applied a generous amount of Silicone spray to try and loosen the rust abit...

After that I remembered that silicone spray should be highly flamable. Can I still use the foglight unit? I reckon the H1 bulb would get pretty hot in there...would it ignite?

Well the unit is pretty knackered .. half of the silver reflector rusted and "melted" away. Alsmost a hole visible... the last dude who owned the car obviously forgot to reseal the unit. Thing is it still works and a new unit costs 80 quid so I am 50/50 as to what to do...

There's a refrigerant line near the assembly so I don't fancy an explosion :p Makes sense though about the propellant being flammable. Says on the tin its extremely flammable! Might spray some silicone on a metal bar and try lighting it.

Well according to Wikipedia :

Typically heat-resistant and rubber-like, they are commonly used in cookware, medical applications, sealants, adhesives, lubricants, insulation, and breast implants.

Sounds like its proper heat resistant. I am almost sure the flammable bit is the propellant.

Oh well only one way to find out......
