Terminator
Looked on the web and some ISP's say they do unlimited uncapped etc, but what is the reality. Any recommendations.
Miguel
Reality = Fair use policy cap.
Martin J
Sadly yep, they're all capped or throttled during peak hours thesedays. Saying that, I use Andrews & Arnold, who are great. I have a limit of 1gb a month during peak hours which are 9am-6pm which suits me fine, as I'm in work. After that it's 100gb between 6pm-midnight and free overnight traffic, which is more than enough for me. Also, I'm never throttled and always achieve 7+ megs on my line no matter what time of day. MrRalphMan
I use Sky's Unlimited service, very good so far.. I don't download excessivly, but they have never complained of 100 to 200GB's of data a month.
sams
Sky top package has no fair useage policy, evidence of this on watchdog and the gaget show, plus there is nothing in the t&c when signing for the top package
Thorin
Another one on Andrews & Arnold here, no complaints. The package is configurable now too, so you can choose how much you want peak/off-peak.
ozz
I'm with BT, prob most expensive option but I'm in a rural area so have tried loads of providers. Was getting 1 meg on average, switched to BT, 4meg and even recently they've bumped me to 5. £25/month tho but worth it.

Thorin
1g/month????? For someone who is at work 9am-6pm mon-fri, 1GB is plenty though But you can change the off/on-peak values to whatever you want, obviously the cost will change though. JustGav
For someone who is at work 9am-6pm mon-fri, 1GB is plenty though Pffftt, I work..... well not 9-6, more like 10:30 to 02:30 at the mo...
Martin J
I'm not at home during those hours so it suits me just fine, and as Thorin said you can tailor the package now to better fit your needs It's that way so they can guarantee a quality business class service to business customers, without residential customers hogging all the bandwidth with torrents! I guess they don't have to shape traffic then like other ISPs to get around this issue.
jonathanc
Well there wont be congestion problem if we start switching to full fibre optic network Saying that I'm with Sky Unlimited as well. £7.50/month if you have Sky Talk and 12.50(I think) w/o. My downloads run at 800-900kbps on average although sometimes it goes really slow. I get around 5.86mbps according to Speedtest and 7.02mbps according to my modem. I would've gone for Virgin 50meg but unfortunately its not available where I live
edge
I can only get 3mb max and my provider is http://www.utilitywarehouse.co.uk/ They have been super reliable and efficient on the phone aswel. I rang them to see if i could get any more speed. They tweaked as i was on the phone but it became unstable so back to 3 meg but they upped it before a few week earlier as bt are doing stuff in the area. But i get 3meg no matter what time of day and never been questioned about downloads and thats maxing out 24hours a day for nearly a week Not long now until bt fttc is fitted locally so i hope again for more decent speeds. st3ven1
Virgin 50meg if you can get it, completely uncapped and you will actually achieve 50meg most of the time even at peak times.
Attero
I'm with Demon - the worlds first broadband ISP. They're extremely good in terms of the service. Value for money - I don't know. Could be worth a check: http://www.demon.net/ It's not uncapped but 200GB/month is a lot!

jonathanc
Dont understand why is it stressing out the network so much. I don't hear about fair usage policy overseas!

It used to be 100Gb fair usage but they have just changed it to 300GB. Been at a full 35meg download 99% of the time aswel.
