They are all at it.

My ex had a Corsa and the back box fell off after backing into something. She called me from the place we used to use, Selecta tyre in Kettering, to say they told her that she needed a whole new system and quoted loads. They also told her her 2 fronts were not legal and "death traps". I raced over there and when I got there it was still on the ramp. Asked them why it needed a whole new exhaust when the old one was not rotten and had only been damaged when she had backed into a post. The guy said that the new back section wouldn't mate up properly to the mid system because the mid section was damaged too. Asked if I could take a look and where they had yanked and twisted the back section to get it off it had caused a small flat on the edge of the pipe on the mid section.

There was a pair of waterpump pliers on the floor so I picked them up, bent the edge of the pipe back into shape, said try it now mate, hey presto it fitted.

Told them to leave the "death trap" tyres which a month later went through the cars first MOT fine.

The annoying thing was I got the distinct impression from the fitter that he was acting on instructions and he was embarrassed about the whole thing.
