well what can i say .

i have just had a guy in my garage driving a ford escort. they guy clearly had learning difficulties and was verry tame shall we say.

he came to me and said i need 4 new tyres on my car. ok i said no problem.

i braight the car in and went to go to work when i noticed the two rear tyres looked almost new. so i took them off to inspect and they were faultless and in verry good condition. so i checked the fronts and again nearly new with no faults.

so i asked the gent who said he needed 4 new tyres . kwik fit he replyed .

they said he needed all four and quoted him £360 . i was going to do the 4 for £120 before i relised they wer perfect.

ripping people off is one thing but taking advantage of people that are clearly ill and a bit slow is just unexcusable . my old man has actually gone over to cause a row as he is discusted .

i couldnt look someone in tha face and take there money like that. shamefull

rant over

id have a go at them as well!!!!!!! Id do my nut in.

Kwik fit also tried to charge me almost £300 for 1 contintal sport tyre where you could order them online for £170. Id never EVER go to kwik fit again after that stupid quote and reading the above. They even said its the cheapest price you find find anywhere. Absolute joke.

if you wasnt in wales id happily go over to the kwik fit place and pretend to be the guys brother just to go mental.

I once had an old car in a kwikfit for its MOT. They rang up and said it needed a new shock, fair enough, I knew it was leaking.

...then rang up and said it needed new front pads, I knew they were low but thought they were OK, but agreed.

...they then rang up and said I needed a new engine, and that the bloke at the garage next door could do it for me.

I stormed down there to have a look, they had replaced the shock but not the pads (which as I thought were low but still fine). They tried telling me the pads were new and I needed to pay, and unless I did they were not going to give me my keys back.

A few choice words later and I paid for the new shock and drove off. Car passed the MOT two days later at a different garage.

My dad took his vauxhall down years ago to our local to replace an exhaust, as the guy was backing out into the road to line up for the ramp, he nearly took out a old man, TWICE!! rofl my dad told him dont bother with the work and went to another place as hes right fussy with how his cars are treated

That is disgusting, just shows what a crap world we live in these days. Most people are just greedy and fend for themselves without any regard to anyone elses hardships/feelings or even life. There are very few genuine people out there these days.

As someone said, I don't know how anyone could look someone straight in the eye and lie to them to get more money out of them, especially if they are vulnerable.

I would report them to trading standards.

It's just like webuyanycar.com, getting told they have to get as much money off the value of the car as possible, even if it means resorting to lieing.

well big tony has returned.

aparently all knowlage of the escort was denied but hes satisfied in the fact he could tell the guy behind the counter was lieing and it lookd like he was going to wet him self .

atleast we were able to stop one guy getting ripped off , and the m.o.t station by me has verry kindly offerd to retest the car for £10 to check over the other faults that kf said needed fixing so thats my good deed for the day done :)

Maybe report the specific branch to Watchdog and they can do a mystery shopper-esq run at it.

Absolutely shocking behaviour and all the mechanics and counter staff should be ashamed for carrying on like that. Even though ultimately its a management decision to boost revenue.

On another note I got a pair of vredesteins ultracs for 17" wheel about 18 months ago from kwik fit. I took advantage of their local price match got them for £150 (retail normally 120 quid each so £240) after I showed them an online quote - shame they didn't realise my online quote was the individual price per tyre if I bought 100 pairs.

Doubt it would work again but I had to try my damndest not to smile when the assistant said yeah ok we can match that for you. What I would never do is take my car there for an mot they will fail it on advisory's just so they can get the remedial work from you albeit non-essential.

Shocking..is that even legal???

Saying that recently I got a quote of 130 quid to change rear pads when I found out OEM quality pads were only 8 quid or something from eBay. Not have much experience with them though to be fair. Last time I was there to re-gas my MR2's A/C and the guy couldn't find the engine compartment...
