supradibbs
Moving on from MattH thread about new movies got me thinking. Lets suggest movies list favorite movies why you liked them genre etc. One of my Favorite movies is Death sentence very simple plot but shows what a simple normal guy will do when wronged. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0804461/
stevie_b
I really liked Se7en: quite dark, everything seems to go the killer's way, unlike most of Hollywood's "happy ever after" endings. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0114369/ Leon is one of my favourites too. A simple storyline about someone battling an inner conflict between keeping life as they like it, and "doing the right thing" (whatever that may be). http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110413/ Dude Where's My Car, because you get to see up the dress of a giant woman. Not many films offer that. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0242423/
Matt H
Se7en is one of the all time best films ever made.
Snooze
Se7en and Leon are both great films. My favourite film is Simple Men by my favourite director, Hal Hartley. A very offbeat road movie. Newcomers to Hartley may find the stilted and disconnected dialogue unusual. The Pinter-esque deadpan delivery and surreal characters can be somewhat polarising. My favourite one-line description of his work was, "Hartley is not concerned with finding answers, so much as finding better questions." No giant upskirts, though, I'm afraid
Gaz6002
Freebird is a fantastic film IMO. A classic British comedy.
Matt H
I'm going to restrict my recommendations to fims that people may have never seen. Which is why these two get a mention for me. Really good movies that get over looked (violent) The Devil's Rejects: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0395584/ John Carpenter's Vampires (worth watching just for the opening scene) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120877/
Matt H
Others that are a bit more main stream: The Time Traveller's Wife (you think it's a chick flick, but it's not - it's genius) http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1407420672/tt0452694 The Road http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/

Kevin Bacon isn't on my list of great actors, but he pulls off a sound performance in this film. Have you read the book? I love it It's on my to do list. I intended to read it while on my next holiday, but that ended up being Ibiza so it wasn't going to happen!

Matt H
Wow another two very good choice loved the Road just watched it last week. Time travellers wife i think in time will become a classic. Cheers Wayne. not many people will agree but i like benjamin button... weird story line but very clever how its been done I agree, I loved that film too and was brilliantly done. Very emotional too! Whenever a film takes you from the start to the end of someone's life it's usually a tear jerker! another 9/10 film for me.
supradibbs
Let not forget the all time classic Kevin and Perry go large:d
Matt H
Here's something a bit different. It takes an appreciation of the first film to enjoy the second one and an eye for detail to understand the genius in it. You have to look over the surface and you'll get a film that looks at mass-histeria and leaves you wondering at the end - genius. It's a film about people who watched the first film.... I'm a huge fan of what the Blair Witch achieved and how clever and new it was. This continues it, but for the general public it wasn't thought of as too good: The Book of Shadows: The Blair Witch two http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0229260/

TonyP
Have you read the book? I love it. Loved the book. Haven't seen the film not sure if I want to tbh, might ruin it. Meet Joe Black. One of my favorite films. Great performances from Hopkins and Pitt. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119643/
Charlotte
Loved the book. Haven't seen the film not sure if I want to tbh, might ruin it. Same! I'm like that with all books I love that get turned into films though. You should see me after I've watched a Harry Potter film.
Matt H
Oooh, that reminds me with the mentioning of Hopkins: Fracture. Another very clever film with a battle of interlect and arrogance. The only thing I thought was a bit dissappointing was the last scene and it's reasoning (you might understand if you watch it), but it doesn't detract from what a great film it is: Fracture: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0488120/ One for Wayne this - revenge story that for 3/4 of the film is outstanding: Law abiding Citizen: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1197624/
Matt H
Not sure if this is out on DVD / Blu-ray yet, but I fully enjoyed this one at the cinema. It was out around the time of inception. Matt H
P.s Hopefully I'm doing I good job of recommending films people may not have seen. We could all say 'The Shawshank Redemption' but everyone's seen it already and you only have to go to the top of the IMDb to see it's worth watching

Awesome story brillant acting and if you dont at least get a lump in your neck by the end your not human. Good shout. 'Remember the titans' and 'the pianist' are two films I love. Shooting dogs is quite possibly the most moving film I've ever seen.
