Stonkin
Having a few conversations about this lately and curious as to what cars people think might make good investments over time. No particular current price range so anything from a MK1 Golf to F40 Discuss...

MARTIN R
good examples, although hard to find of Alfa 155 and 146. Not worth a great deal at the moment but think they will increase in price
marc_p
I was chatting to the guy who owned Lodon Motor Museum for a couple of hours and he made his money buying cars and then selling them when they shot up in value(and trust me, he has made a few million from a few thousand doing this), one of his recommendations at the moment is the late 70's firebird/transam(the smokey and the bandit one)

I think maybe 'rat style' is a pre-emptive for that very situation.
Stonkin
Monsween, had a capri as my first car, was completely immaculate, i stupidly wrote it off in someones garden after 6 months, damn corners SteveR, out of all the e46's that no doubt would be the one. I've always loved the e30 M3's, they seem to have gona up a lot in value, but would have needed to own one from many years ago to benefit i think. Definetly a very open ended subject yes, was just curous to peoples opinions.
monsween
The capri was my first real car and i stupidly sold it, hence offering him a silly amount for it back. Even tho it was in a worse state than i had it.

Why do yo think that? Just been looking at them, at the prices you've said, very nice. What is the difference between them and the GT4 and GTB

marc_p
Why do yo think that? Just been looking at them, at the prices you've said, very nice. What is the difference between them and the GT4 and GTB I've learnt a lot from people who have invested in cars and it's just something I have got rather good at reading over the years, the 308 is a really easy one to spot, mainly beacuse it was an iconic Ferrari of the early 80s, it was featured in films and TV series and was a poster on the wall of many teenagers bedroom, the prices fell and fell over the years as the people who could afford it, didn't want it(they wanted newer Ferraris) and the people who did want it couldn't afford it. You then fast forward 25 years and those spotty teens who dreamt of a 308 in the mid 80's all of a sudden, they find themselves in good jobs and starting to find themselves in high managerial/director roles and they all start realising they they can afford that car they stared at for hours on end in there bedroom. They then start buying the cars, demand shoots up and the prices rocket, a good example of this is the Countach that practically went from around £30k to about £90k over night. marc_p
Oh and there is not much difference between the GTS and GTB( I think it was something to do with the weight) but the GT4 was a bit of a mondial if you ask me, it maybe worth some money in the future but you will have a long wait to see a return.
