VGA Lead question (maybe an easy question for the I.T members?)

Can't you use a DVI > HDMI cable? I use that from my PC to the TV, works great. Is about 2.5m.

Also you say the 'desktop seems to be streched beyond the borders of the TV screen' - can you just change your TV to compensate? My set is a Sony and I had to change the display to show 'Full Pixel' to get a 1:1 pixel match, then the desktop would fit perfectly. Maybe your TV has a similar option?

Some extensions are not fully wired either, especially cheapo ones. Doubt you want to spend this much but one of the best VGA cables i have ever used (used to do installs in recording studios etc) was a VanDamme (not Jean Claude) Google VDC cables and you'll find them.

Check that pins 4, 11, 12 and 15 are wired from end to end using a multimeter.

FWIW I'm using a Lindy 5m VGA cable with no issues.
