Ford Ka Bulb Change

Josh

Recommended Posts

My girlfriend's driver's side front indicator bulb has gone and I can't work out the best way to change it.

The ways I can find by searching online, some say you have to take the bumper off and remove the whole light unit. Others say to take the wheel arch lining off and get to it that way and I've found people saying you can do it from the top and even by going through a step by step guide I can't find out how to do it. Also my hands are too big to get in there properly!

In short has anyone changed an indicator bulb on a Ka and how in the hell did you do it?

Thanks for any help

Wheel arch lining is the way I did this years ago. You may need to jack the car up a little so the wheel drops slightly. Then undo the liner (3 or 4 clips if I remember) then you can access the back of the light. It is quite fiddly but just requires patience young Jedi :D

Plus if you have hands like shovels it might be tricky lol

Sorry, missed this yesterday.

It's an 07 reg.

Blue if it helps ;)

Thanks for all the help

I didn't get round to doing it as she doesn't need the car this week. I'll probably do it at the weekend.

That would be the older shape not the new rounder one? If it is the older shape the indicator is to the inside edge of the headlight behind the grille. A half twist effort you shouldn't need to strip anything.

Take out the self tapping screw out of the top of the grille and bend it back to get your hand in. It is a half turn bulb holder. As for build quality, boy they are poor. Held together with chewing gum and rust really badly. Ive had '05' plates in needing welding on the sills!

Sorted, it was so easy.

I could only find info on the headlights not the indicators.

Take the wheel arch cover off my arse, I got my hand in behind the grille and twisted, the bulb popped out and I changed it.

Thanks for all the help chaps :D
