ilicos
I have been offered the above for £1350 with all ancillaries and Turbos and was wondering if I could use the gearbox as its the tiptronic box. Also, would I need to get a Supra TT loom? Engine has 75k on the clock so wanted some opinions. I didn't think that the Lexus came with a TT engine so could this have been an Aristo re-badged or engine swap? Cheers, Ilias
adnanshah247
hey bud, the sump on the engine will need to be changed and yes you will need a supra TT loom. as far as mileage goes the 2jz is a strong very well built engine, ensure that it has been maintained and you got yourself a good deal. i presume the engine you have is from a MK2 Aristo? the V300 i think its called. ilicos
Hi Adnan, I was aware of the sump issue but the loom was my biggest query along with if I could use the gearbox. I like the thought of the tiptronic over a standard auto box
Awisto
You'll need the ECU from the Aristo aswell. Non VVTi supra loom will be useless.
ilicos
What I don't want is to buy it and be stuck with the engine and not be able to use it because I don't have a loom. Again, if anyone knows if I can use the gear box then I would be grateful if you could let me know.
Nic
You can buy complete new looms from Toyota, not cheap though. I used an Aristo VVTi 2JZ-GTE long block on mine, with a non-VVTi 2JZ-GTE Supra head and non-VVTi 2JZ-GTE loom on mine, the only difference electronics wise was the oil pressure sensor plug was different. Awisto
The gearbox is controlled by the main ECU, so you will need a VVTi loom and VVTi ECU
michel lane
if you put an after market ecu on the car you can run it on a standard loom. but you need to swap the autobox with you own. talk to ryan about his, he is the man who can advise you better.
