Baz018
Just wondering but does anyone know which parts fail in a w58 gearbox when on a tt.
little num
I might be able to tell you when mine breaks or if it breaks, i have been running 380hp for 2 trackdays and some driftdays but still sounds and feels as good as the day i fitted the TT engine. pedrosixfour
In theory if the box is good to begin with then it shouldn't fail when bolted to a TT if used correctly/kindly. I'm still running a NA but the synchro on third in my W58 gave up at the last track day I was at. I'm about to fit a stock 1JZ but I'm going to rebuild the 'box at the same time. Baz018
Well im running a w58 on my tt and have been for over 10,000 miles and its still ok. I've been in contact with some gearbox specialists to see if any parts can be upgraded to handle more power so was just checking to see which are the main parts. dr_jekyll
iv killed 2 w58s on my na-t , both times iv opend the box and found all the cogs in perect condition and the barings in the centre plate felling verry loose and clunky
little num
Just keep the oil changed regularly and put good stuff in, i have changed mine twice in the last few months due to changing the clutch and both times the oil came out alittle dirty. dcarrter21
i used halfrauds own gearoil, i also think its due to bearing failure. 99% sure the play in the shaft and worn bearings is what killed mine..
