SupraMan Mk4
Hi guys, I know, I know another mpg thread. But im now averaging 12 mpg on my car listed above. ANd this is 90% motorway driving to and from work at 70/80 mph constant speed. Is this about right? Only asking as my car is going in for a service shortly, oil, coolant flush, plugs and was wondering if it may be worth changing the o2 sensors aswell as there is no history showing this has been done thus far. Thanks for advice guys.
Neil-NA
I do 17,mpg, change your o2 sensors and make sure tyres are inflated.
j_jza80
I would definitely say something is up, you should see around 30mpg on a run (as I used to in my Lexus GS300, and that's a heavier car than a Supra)
sams
they are really low, motorway mines at 70, im looking 22/23mpg in my tt general driving to work, (no motorway) im looking about 18 mpg
Terminator
That is way too low unless you have your foot welded to the floor al the time. When my car was TT I could get 25mpg if very careful, rest of the time 20ish at worst 19mpg.
SupraMan Mk4
Thanks guys, anyone recommend a brand of o2 sensor or shall I just go for Toyota originals?

jackso11
can you get a mpg guage? I know new cars have them in the dash these days.
Shane
This is way too low, I get 22-24 on motorway cruises in my NA, mines full decat, with around 90k miles on the clock. I mention this as I believe both have a bearing on the MPG. My TT does around 17 when driven hard and around the same as then NA when driven like a saint. There was someone selling manifolds in for sale the other day complete with O2 sensors.
jackso11
is the o2 sensor easy to change/get to? and does it really make a lot of difference?
Shane
is the o2 sensor easy to change/get to? and does it really make a lot of difference? On an NA there are 2, easy to get at but the bolts do have a tendancy to break, but not so hard to drill out. And yes from what I understand, they can have a huge effect on MPG. I guess that's the difference between running in open or closed loop, if they are putting out rubbish or nothing, the ECU will always be fuelling as though the car is cold and has just been started. Shane
Have a read of this, gives an indication of the effect on fuelling tired sensors can have. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=224230&highlight=sensor+location
Rich8v
Added a good 60 to 70 miles on my range, bassed on mixed driving on my tt.(I have the larger fuel tank). Was seeing 220 to 250 miles. Now I want at least 300 miles to a tank. Managed 410 miles in one tank when I drove to supra pod. That was 80% mway and a roads. Only down side was having 2 sensors to change, at £160 each.
