BABZ988
hi all this week i've fitted my G'reddy FMIC and since the car is overboosting From stock .85b now it is now boosting to 1.1b and i still have my 1st & 2nd cat now the car is struggling when that happen Is it usually that the boost increase that much just with a FMIC??? Will it be ok if i install my uprated fuel pump ?? Thanks
Scott
It isn't a good idea to run that sort of boost when you have the cats in place. It will create a lot of heat and you will run the risk of dangerous gas temps. I would recommend fitting an EGT gauge to see what you are getting. What do you mean the car is struggling? Is it hesitating? Misfiring?
bodilx6
FMIC shouldn't increase your boost. Where do you measure your boost level? If you run 1.1 bar on a stock car, you should hit fuel cut 1 sec after you cross the 1 bar mark. And btw, why install a FMIC on a stock car? BABZ988
yes , i know that it is dangerous to run that sort of boost on a full stock car, and i know the risk , that's why since i sort that i don't go WOT but i've never heard of boost increase with just an FMIC installed that's why i'm surprised ! it's more 1.02 than 1.1b i have a profec b boost controller installed on the FPR vacuum line but i've just installed the controller too read the boost ( solenoid hoses are not plumb ) that's where i read the boost the car is hesitating on 2nd turbo only i'll find out for the EGT gauge i've my FMIC fitted because i'm doing a BPU but didn't had time to fit all parts and good point why don't i hit fuel cut ?? i didn't install FCD yet !! it maybe because you say that i must push the P° for 1sec or more!! what i dont do !! Scott
The hesitation would worry me more than anything to be honest. Sounds like something has went wrong during the install, or just out of bad luck. It shouldn't be down to the FMIC though.
BABZ988
the thing is; before; every thing was perfect i had some rough idle issue but all runing good if i don't floor it all run perfectly i only have this happpening when i go WOT, and at full boost and yes that hesitation is worring me , i think i should complete my BPU upgrade and see what's happening
bodilx6
Regarding the hesistation on the transistion to the 2nd turbo; that could sound like something strange in the vacuum system, VSVs or EGCV or EBV. But a bit strange since you havent messed with anything in the vacuum system (or have you?) Take a look here for A LOT of info on the vacuum system and troubleshooting it: http://www.97supraturbo.com/FAQ.html I have neved installed a boost controller (I just have a restriction in the exhaust), but you might want to try and remove that to eliminate that as a possible issue. Scott
Ahh, the hesitation will be you hitting fuel cut. When you say hesitation, is it like hitting a brick wall and just doesn't want to go? If that is the case, it is only the overboosting & temps you need worry about. If you get a 1st de-cat & restrictor ring, or at least an EGT gauge, that will help you out no end.
