Terrible Morning

I'm not that kinda person though - I can't just feel elated about the whole thing, it’s been quite stressful and at the end of the day, someone else is going through a really bad time now while I’m ok. I have fought for it and put my case for staying across as best as I could, but still not an easy pill to swallow.

..good for you... if more folks gave a sh*t about the other guy maybe it'd be a nicer world :)

Was sort of package did you get? Ours is pretty poor, it's basically twice the statutory entitlement. So regardless of what your salary is you only get £760 per week for each year of employment. Albeit this being tax free, it’s not going to go very far.

I guess it’s not that bad if you can walk straight into another job of a similar or better salary, but that’s where things would get pretty tricky for me. The job availability in my sector is currently pretty bleak.

Not sure I follow the calculation Matt.

Is that for each year of employment you get £760?

i.e 5 years you'd get 5 * £760 = £3800?

I did mind getting stabbed in the back when I'd been loyal to the company though.

Same here, been made redundant a few times. All but the last one I survived the earlier stages and struggled with less staff only for it to end in site closure, always felt that survival wasn't so good in these cases as it's often the beginning of the end.

My last redundancy I was picked for the first time and although I've gone on to better things I'm still very bitter about the way it was done and how powerless I was to an obvious stitch up job :(

I still dream of inflicting serious physical pain on those involved, is this wrong ? :innocent:

Cheers bud.

do you work at business link

No mate, how come you mention that?

Yes, that's right. We would get double whatever our statutory entitlement would be. Stat is one weeks salary for every year of employement, capped at £380 per week. So the double bit means that we get £760 per week for every year we have worked for the company. So even if you were on £60k you would only get the £3800 for 5 years service. Cr&p hey.

That's what I've gathered from reading the redundacy policy - it's a bit ambiguous mind.

At least you weren't told an indian could do your job better than you for less money, now train him before you f*** off. I've seen that a lot in my neck of the woods.

I.T by any chance? My GF's Uncle does the I.T for a small(ish) law firm and they've been going on about out sourcing the I.T for years. They had other I.T guys in at some point and wanted the GF's Uncle to show this 'out source' how the systems he had set up work!! He's basically got everything hidden though in some way shape or form (don't ask me how).

Back on point though, yeah, employing labour in the middle east at the expense of local resources pisses me off too.

I.T by any chance?

How did you guess :D

Right now though we're going through a fun exercise where the basic lack of ability and talent 'over there', and the subsequent lack of admission and taking of responsibility etc etc has resulted in more high severity outages in a month than in the last year :rlol: Vice presidents are getting heat it's cost so much in service credits. Reap what ye sow and all that
