a98pmalcolm
Due to not being able to sort out windows media player not responding i am having to look at an alternative. I dot like i-tunes so i wont be using that. But i need somthing just like windows media player so i can sync my music files to my usb for my headunit and the view of the music libary music so when i play my drums with my music i can simpley scroll down the libary with a clear view of music and the album art next to the album name helps mind the songs im after quickly. KM Player looks good but what do you use? Or what would you suggest for what im after? Thanks Paul
Scott
Thought about re-formatting your PC to get it running fresh again? No point in papering over the cracks.

Scott
Yeah, its a 100 times better to wipe it. I always have my stuff on a seperate drive/partition so that I can wipe at will with minimal fuss. I would just back your stuff up and go for it. Scott
have to admit i dont really go to all that for WMP lol You're missing my point. There is something wrong with the software on your system. Something is conflicting or missing or corrupt etc etc. It's like black smoke pouring out of your exhaust so you change to a side exit so that you don't see it anymore. The problem is still there! I know were your coming from mate. Im usally the type of person thats not happy unless everything else is 100% perfect, but everything is working so so pukka more so than it has been except WMP Do you think if i portion part of my harddrive and after installing 7 onto it, then unportion the old windows area all will be ok and files will still be there? I mean and can completely wipe the 1T had and get what i can on my 250GB HD but it wont be enough...

A better option in that case would be to use the 1tb drive as storage and copy everything from the 250gb drive onto it. From there you can then wipe and install windows on the 250gb drive... win win What actually happens with WMP? Have you tried an update? What happens is when i click on media player, the window opens but immediatly stops responding. All updates are done etc.. With having 7 on the 250GB HD things would directly install onto that wouldnt they without the ability to install directly to the 1T HDD? Scott
You have the ability to install things wherever you choose. The problem is that during an install certain system files are often created. This means that if you reformatted that drive again the system files would be lost and the program would stop responding. Surely it wouldn't take up 250gb for just your programs and games?
a98pmalcolm
well iv used up 460 GB on the 1T HDD obviously includes music etc... but if i open up a song seperatly WMP runs fine and plays the song but when i go to my libary it crashes again :S I use the 250 GB for back ups etc... i could install windows onto the 250 GB and short cut the media player to my desk top in the 1T HDD and it should run fine then
Scott
No bud. When you install Windows, wmp is part of the install. You would need to recreate your library using the new file location. I thought you were a pc guy Might be best to just get Winamp up and running
MaveriK
Have you tried setting WMP back to defaults? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925718 What version of player are you using?
Ric
VLC on the mac, or Klitecodec pack on the PC (with media player classic)
Snooze
WMP annoys me that whenever I disconnect and later re-connect the external drive with my music on, I have to manually rebuild the library, which takes ages. Was going to try having a play with MediaMonkey.

Was going to try having a play with MediaMonkey. Are you disconnecting the drive while WMP is still open? The only reason I ask is I have a 2nd harddrive in my laptop that isn't fixed in properly and one time, in band camp, it became disconnected. I didn't notice for a couple of days, until I went to search for some pictures, and plugged it back in. My media library is still intact and all my music is on that drive. Not usually - the machine is a laptop, so it's mostly unplugged from the drive - I only plug it in when I get to put my music on - not very often these days - all the wires are usually connected or disconnected prior to power up.
