i did have a look but nothing concrete on this job:( its just i want an idea of how to do it so i dont make more work for myself or manage to screw it up;).

I done mine when the box was out of the car when i done the clutch and fly.

They say you can do it without removing the box and i remember a post of someone saying you could get to it from inside the car but i wouldn't know what was easier.

It is easier and safer not to remove the old seal. If you scratch the bore in an attempt to remove the old one, it will always leak no matter how many new seals you put in. I made up a simple tool from copper tube to push the old seal back a bit and then to insert the new seal. You can drop the back of the box to get at it under the car. From inside the car I would have thought it would be a pig of a job.

I did mine out of the car, this post shows what you are dealing with. You really need the best access you can get.

  • 3 weeks later...

i just started doing mine and i've already rounded off one of the prop bolts on the gearbox side :( looks like the knackered seal has eaten my gearbox mount aswell so i need a new one of them too. the guy on SF says its an easy job at the end of his post but i've already swore plenty of times!
