Polo
Cheers guys! Bit of an update, been busy the last 3 days. Converted the N/A sump to turbo buy getting a -10 fitting welded in for turbo oil return. Finished the oil pick up and baffle plate sump finished with dash of paint Sump fitted Engine in da hole Tight!!! New Japspeed 350z alloy rad, chopping and modding the 350gt fans to fit! Plenty of clearance with out the fans on, not so easy with the fans!! So i had to trim loads of the plastic front end to move the rad forword so it all fitted!! Moved forword and fans fitted, also very tight!! Gear stick extension perfect thanks to Mr Stevos fabrications and my mesurments Japspeed 1jz top mount conversion Vband down pipe fits perfect with out a mod needed Started mocking up some pipe work! It probs going to poke out the bonnet a little but i dont want to comprimise on the radious of the bend and there is no way it can go down! Mocking up cooler locations So thats it for now, waiting on a few bits to turn up now and some things to sell, bank is empty!!!
Polo
Masive thanks to Japspeed for a hole host of parts, including all the alloy pipe work, exhaust parts, suspensions arms, intercooler, rad..... The intercooler pipe work is now ready for welding, just going for one pipe each side, so less silicon needed. Trick with the pipe work on this is to keep it high on the hot side so i can get the air filter under it, seing as there is not alot of space the filter will be up against the pipe work, so having the hot pipe high is better for heat reasons. Also the pipe work has to be as far forward as poss as the wheels are not far from each corner, giving hardly any room infront of the wheel, especialy on lock! Thats all folks!! Polo
Its that time again! Polo
Pic time!!! Had the guy next door make this for me on his CNC lave, its so i can ditch the standard oil cooler and oil filter housing and run two sandwich plates. One for the oil cooler and one for sensors. Also with just the oil cooler one i couldnt get the -12 pipe to clear the block. If any one wants one made, for two sandwich plates or one i can get them done! Spent some time cleaning all the suspension bits il be using! Drill and a wire mop, some scotch bright and a bit of sand paper. Before After a dip and electro plating Bit of cleaning and painting the steel bits Also, im very please to announce a new sponsor, SuperPro have kindly supplied me with all the bushs i could possably need! ta da So before i could fit it all up i had to sort the fuel tank breather Plenty of copper grease on every nut and bolt
Polo
Nice shiny Japspeed arms http://i55.photobucketalbums/g158/P0l0200sxy/138.jpg Test fitting a 12j et20 18", at 1st glance i thoght it wouldnt work but with a bit of a flare and a stretch it will look mighty fine!!! That is as low as the coilovers will go so a bit of playing there to be done, this has got to be ubber low to pull 18" rims off! Even with poke out! The two fuel pick up pots, both now fitted with new walbros, also one fitted with a -6 fitting for the fuel return. Each pot hase two pic ups, this pic is of the second pick up for the standard pot, i just ran a 8mm ID copper pipe back accross the tank for the second one and cable tied it to the tank baffles. But i didnt want to rush it for the sake of it, few more days! chopped holes in the bonnet Got some front upper camber arms! Cheers Dan at DBpower Thoght this pic was funny, looks like its on hydraulics lol! Half way off the stands that have supported it for the last 3 months! Just some random shots! been 2ft in the air so long seams very strange to have it on the floor, its bloody low! This is on 9.5j et30 rims all round! The 12j et20 rear and 9.5j et12 front should work well with a 20mm spacer on the front For gigles! Out side for the 1st time since xmas looking mean!! Up on the ramp so i can make the exhuast! Can now get a proper look at it, been doing most the build on axle stands at the back of the workshop!! Got the elbow welded on the turbo housing and swaged. Polo
Still not started, been on the road all day and didnt get back till gone 7pm by wich time i CBA to get into it. But the 420mile road trip was well worth it Along with a visit tot he guys at Japspeed and EPracing to collect a few other bits and bobs, i also went to see Gav at The Speed Factory up near manchester!!! He had this little wearhouse fine sitting there for me With a shipping lable from 2005!! Been sitting for a while untouched, collecting dust! Every single component had its own box, in which the parts wer bubble wrapped and taped and glued to the box to prevent damage! Along with a full set of instructions, Nismo certificate and fitting kit for each item! The quality is unreal, seams a shame to smash it up the instructions and fitting kits wer even attached to the inside of the boxs The fit is very impresive, not a single imperfection!! Any way last night i started making the exhaust, fitting a flexi in the down pipe. Also fitted a single plate clutch for now to get it running, along with taking the box appart and fitting the shifter extension properly, oh and fitted the custom prop. Flush with the chassis
Polo
update time! Made this heat sheild a while back but forgot to post pics After making the 3" exhaust, i desided 3" probs wont be enough for 650-700hp, so i made a hole new system out of 3.5" to the Y peice at the back where is goes in to twin 3". 3" to 3.5" reducer 3.5" mandrel bends reducer chopped down and tacked to Vband flange Down pipe complete (tack welded) Due to 3.5" pipe a flexi and bolted flanges wer no longer an option due to budget so slip joints wer used. Exhaust complete and on, for max ground clearance Just some shiny shots Side skirts on Big thanks to Scotty at Skylinepart.com for the coil pack plugs, the stock ones had crumbled to bits!
Polo
Then it was the task of starting!! Had a few issues!! 1st was one of the live to the ecu had to be controlled by pin 24a on the ecu via a relay, fixing this gave me spark and injectors but at the wrong times!! After a few days of fecking about, i figered that the two cam shaft sensors wer the wrong way round and she fired up streight away. Made a heat sheild for the turbo, mainly to stop thermal shocking to the turbo housing when it rains and to keep direct heat away from the brake and clutch master. Cheers guys, got photo bucket sorted!! Sooooooo.................... A bit of arch rolling Paint prep Tried a Do-Luck (I think) r33 wing, suits the car, duno if i like it thogh! Polo
Japspeed sent down some D2 brakes, but only had Subaru rear kit and 200sx front kits to send me, so some modding was needed, the rear disc PCD and bore wer wrong so got corrected!! Also none of the brakets lined up so they all needed chopping drilling and tapping! Japspeed also got the 4" core coolers back in stock so one of them went on Also loads of other little jobs done getting it ready for mapping and paint, not worth taking pics of! Exhaust properly fitted while on the ramp Arch rolled
