foggy147
Ok guys it's crunch time now, my car is now sold and now I'm faced with the dilema of getting a new economical car, ideally I would prefer a diesel, although small petrol engine cars i would consider too, number one it has to be a very reliable motor, ive just been looking at a4s ranging from 2000-2004, do quite like the look of them but for the budget of around 4k they have done quite alot of mileage, most being 100k plus, but on a diesel audi im guessing if its been looked after it wont really matter? Ive looked at toyota corollas 1.4 petrol but they are so boring looking and I think I would prefer something a bit bigger that eats up motorway miles with ease! Any help would be appreciated, especially from any members with a4 diesels as im now swaying more towards one of them. Cheers
ozz
I had a corollas, the 1.4 i think, sports model. It was terrible, really boring drive and just a dull car. Sold it fast. For your budget, I'd consider a clio or the corsa diesel.

foggy147
Well there seems to be better passats for the price range id be looking at, the one ive just posted sounds about perfect and looks very tidy so definately worth a look, fsh, cambelt been done and only 85k with the advantage of half leather interior
Havard
The Passat looks like a decent deal. My mate had one that shape and loved it.... H.
foggy147
The Passat looks like a decent deal. My mate had one that shape and loved it.... H. Any noted problems with it? How long as he had it? Im very very tempted to go take a look, judging from reviews they seem to be reliable and fairly cheap to service etc, an obviously excellent fuel economy. Definately better than a boring corolla diesel
Guest tony8
nothing to do with me but lowish mileage and within your budget http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=645452
j_jza80
My money would be spent on a Volvo s60 d5. Excellent cars, my friend has one with 160k on the clock and it feels as tight as a brand new one I drove a year ago.
