IceMan
The JPNZ translated handbook I have (thanx Steve Cargill) indicates that the MANU mode is for "slippery" road conditions. It basically locks the car in gear and prevents kickdown (though the turbos still spool if you press hard)... This is very useful when (like me this morning) you have to traverse ice coated countryside lanes. Although my average speed was 15mph at least my Supra survived (despite a couple of wobbles). Low grip original Jap tyres with borderline tread are making life even more interesting, combined with original 16" brakes that are worn out on the front... Deathtrap! Don't worry, I'm aiming to solve all, just need to get the money pit of Christmas out the way first... so 15 to 20mph it is for the next few weeks! MONKEYmark
mines off road and in bits.been out today to wash it down and cover front end over.the winter weather is not good for cars.its the first time i have took a car off road over winter.a chance to get loads of jobs done that you always wanted doing. i have silver supra when its clean it stands out sort of like a bright silver colour, when its been stood in crappy weather it goes a dull grey sort of colour with all crap in rain. it would be great having a big garage to work on it in dry, wont you be better off getting a cheap winter runabout and save supra for best, when you get back in supra you will smile like its a new car
B3any
I'd love to do that, but i pay 2k a year insurance as it is never mind getting another car, i might do next year i think.

Rich J
Yes the RaceLogic TC was working overtime this morning (even in the 200hp 1.8). Nice pops and bangs from the exhaust when giving it a poke down the ice lanes.
Terminator
Same here, loads of black ice form freezing fog this morning. RL on wet did its stuff a few times.
Keith C
Ditto - had it cutting in even in 4th. Phil, not forgotten, just massively hampered by the discovery that my laptop doesn't have a serial port, so need to borrow another.
adi
It does a bit more than that as well !... I know my manu is working but i still get a kickdown on a foot back in certain situations.. never figured out why..
Rich J
The MkIII has a different set-up in Manu mode to the MkIV saw something comparing the two somewhere (probably on the '93 Supra features on http://www.mkiv.com somewhere). Pretty sure the MkIII would kick down where the MkIV wont. Originally posted by adi It does a bit more than that as well !... adi
yep true.. but the gearbox used in the late 2.5tt's is something between the mkiii and the mkiv box.. called an A342E with both 'power' and 'manu' switches. I cant get any info on it as it was only used in this model. Although i aggree you're prob right and the kickdown in manu works differently. Gareth Davies
Martin, my experiance with them is that they're not actually very good. If anyone has one that they can say reliably works with RLTC could they please post the brand. 99% compatibilty may be fine for most devices, but i'd rather not have the 1% cut my engine at a bad time with RLTC
Guest Martin F
For a while i leant a Belkin one to Terminator and it seemed to work fine. We use these at work and what you say is true in a fashion, they seem to be quite susceptible to interference, i.e. nearby mains leads. But for RLTC they are fine as all you ever do is upload and download data and then use the software to maybe monitor.
Gareth Davies
Thinking about it I was using one in a 'noisey' environment with a really quite long cable. And the data is pretty small so it would be mighty bad luck to get a faulty config. Thanks for the heads up. Maybe one day when I get it installed i'll be able to use my new laptop then
Keith C
I could do, but that would involve spending money, when I can just borrow a laptop

I had a lap top just like that, but Martin sort mine out with a link, so I could get RL configured properly. My new lap top has one:D
