hogmaw
I spotted this at my little boy's school this morning. I will probably get jailed for (god forbid) taking a photo in a school but I had to do it... if kids are being taught to read things like this, what hope do they have of being able to read, write and spell properly? http://img412.imageshack.us/img412/8082/imag0081q.jpg
Attero
What does that actually say?
Gaz6002
Is it Spanish?

I don't think it can be part of some barmy phonetic spelling method. You could give them a ring and ask?
stevie_b
Please God let this be a spoof. If that's for real then it's abysmal. I translate it to be "Our guinea pigs are on holiday with their cousins. See what they're doing." I'm not sure why a notice that said that would be displayed in a school though. Smallshinyant
I need to know what the guinea pigs have been up to I'm guessing schools know what they are up to, what age range is it for?
TonyP
It's better than some of the spelling I've seen on the forum.
supramkivcork
Is "trev the rev" in your kids school mate, it could explain a lot really ?
Ian C
Actually the transaltion of "ur" from Thickospeak to English is "your", so that's: "Your guinea pigs your on holiday with their cousins. See what they're doing." So even translated it makes little sense. Probably written by *insert current object of derision here*
Rob
To go all Daily Mail, isn't the modern way to get the intent of the message across without being negative to the child about whether its actually spelt correctly? You don't want to upset them by making them feel inadequate or an underachiever.

hogmaw
I'm going to speak to the headmaster for an explanation.

Josh
I'm guessing that as all but one of the words is spelt incorrectly that it's some kind of English lesson, having to write it using the correct words.
AndrewOW
Or it's been written by a bloody clever guinea pig!

You don't want to upset them by making them feel inadequate or an underachiever. Well, the first four words were right. I think you'll find schools of all sorts spend an extraordinary amount of time trying to get kids to write correctly. However, they are swimming upstream when the average home probably has more playstation games than books.
Abz
That hand writing is too neat to be a little kid... let's see what the headmaster has to say. I have to say though I have no idea how some kids are getting straight A's. My wife's sister hardly did any work for her GCSE's, always last minute coursework & revise the night before... she was out most days with mates, an still manages to get 5 A's! If she was an intelligent girl then I'd understand but she is sometimes quite a bimbo!

And my a levels were D in art. D in gen studdies. E in computing and a fail at business studdies. I still went to uni and studdied Internet computing. And then Flunked year 2. I now work in IT Exams don't mean much IMO. But this is going off topic. Lol. Interested in the explanation. I can only hope it's a "what's wrong with this" teaching aid.
