As a Rottweiler owner please please do not get one and add to the long list of people that already own them and do not take proper responsibility for them.

Not to sound patronising but by the sound of it you really do need educating when it comes to this matter.

:yeahthat:

I used to own rotweiller and they are nice and harmless teddies, It would be a waste to give such a lovely animal into hands of mentally disturbed kid.

Aslan would have been ideal, save for the fact he had a serious problem deciding friend from foe, which led to his downfall. To put his size into perspective the bitch on the right is bigger than 95% of Alsatians, so he was HUGE, about 11 stone, with an attitude problem :)

Wow that's massive

Anyone have a proffessional trained dog?

Anyone recommende a good place I idealy want a rottweider.[/url]

Jazz, there is a good reason why the police and the security companies & services do not use Rotties to support their K9 operations. Once a Rottie looses the plot and bites someone then it's difficult to calm the animal in to releasing its bite. They are NOT a useable animal for security work.

LMAO.

If your going to break the law i suggest Fila Braziliero........It will attack anyone or anything within 3 square miles.:) Down side, that would include customers, cats, children, old people, possiblely cars.

Failing that install an alarm.

Haha, it's illegal to keep them in the UK, I think?!

Seen some footage of those on various programmes/websites over the years, absolutely mental dog.

Just so it is clear before you embark on getting a dog to be used for security/guard purposes I would like to draw your attention to this:

Section 1 Guard Dogs Act 1975

A PERSON SHALL NOT USE OR PERMIT THE USE OF A GUARD DOG (Means a dog which is being used to protect premises, or property kept on the premises, or a person guarding the premises or such property) AT ANY PREMISES (means land other than agricultural land and land within the curtilage of a dwelling house. It also includes buildings and parts of buildings, other than dwelling houses), UNLESS A NOTICE (containing a warning that a guard dog is present is clearly exhibited at each entrance to the premises) AND A HANDLER IS PRESENT ON THE PREMISES AND AT ALL TIMES KEEPS THE DOG UNDER HIS CONTROL (except where another handler has control of it or whilst the dog is secured so that it is not at liberty to go freely about the premises).

Furthermore you should look at:

Section 2 Dogs Act 1871 - Order on Control of Dangerous Dogs (These are not those deemed by the secretary or state as Section 1 dogs)

Section 28 Town Police Clauses Act 1847

Section 3 Dangerous Dogs Act 1991

Personally I think it is irresponsible to have a dog for these purposes unless supervised by trained professionals at all times.

Well thats my 2 pence worth.

Well I found out you can get pet guard dogs so that's what I'm going for. After all its better to have a trained dog then a normal one. He'll knows how many violent pet dogs people carry. The dog won't be kept at the premesis at night just day time when in there so it will also be my pet

Indeed it is but as matt pointed out above he was more or less breaking the law anyway so might aswell go hole hog.

They are breed to hate strangers, IE not the owner or owners family and will kill anyone or anything that comes near the house. It is said they dont have to be trained to do this.
