I-Phone signal strength

Recommended Posts

I have owned my I-Phone 3GS for 11 months and the signal strength is probably the worse of any mobile I have ever owned.

I have now sent it back for repair as I spend a good 60% of the time without signal.

Does anyone else have similarly poor signal from there I-Phone.

I am on O2.

Interestingly enough the loan phone I have is a cheap £20 Nokia that makes calls & texts and its the clearest, strongest signal I have ever had.

I have signal issues as well, seems to vary from day to day.

I can be in the same place with a good signal one day and the next day no signal, I have spoken to O2 several times and they are next to useless and just get me to reboot the phone,

which to be honest works, but it's not really solving the long ternm problem, just the immediate one

My old Nokia 6230i always has a stronger signal on the same network (Orange) than my iPhone 2G or iPhone 4 and in performs better in weaker signal areas.

But the Nokia is just a phone.

This is what Im starting to think although should this really be the case.

I know the I-phone does everything under the sun but surely the most basic function of signal quality should be as good if not better than a standard mobile or is it a case of too much interfearence from all the data streams and info to & from the phone?

To me it seems making a mobile do everything it was never designed to do is making great progress but its fundamental & original purpose has seen little or no improvement since its conception...to make a phone call..:(

i got the 3gs from tmobile about a week after o2 relesed it, never had a problem with it or signal, until i updated it to ios 4.0.1, after this i cant even get signal in peterborough city centre, updated it to 4.0.2 which was supposed to fix the problem, fixed it for about 3 days then is got worse and worse over the next week after that.
