DamanC
I'm on a monthly rolling contract, have been for the last two years so I think its time to upgrade my ageing N95 8GB which has done me well for 2 years I know there is a few phone gurus here plus many enthusiasts, so I am open to some recommendations. I have a few must requirements; - Considered good for web browsing - Collects more than 1 emails account and can do so in the 'background'. - Supports VOIP - One way or another has SAT NAV. Ideally Tom Tom and ideally free. (I have an external GPS receiver which I can use if need be) - 4GB + Stoarge A few not so must but would like requirements; - Can be unlocked, hacked, jail broken. The idea of something for nothing makes me moist. - Well supported applications. I want the option of loading lots of pointless things on there, again I want these "free". - A normal headphone jack I have the list down to two, the iPhone 4 and and an HTC Desire, but to be honest I don't know much about them as im just going on "reviews". So, I would be interested in what people have to say about iPhone VS Desire plus any other recommendations. Ta
Wez
I say go and try both and make your own mind up. Having used both the iPhone for me is still the best handset I have ever owned and it's only a 3GS. It does everything I need and the only gripe I have is no flash support. It's a cracking interface and there are apps for anything you need, apparently even more when jail broken.

I'd agree Wez - iPhone really is the best at the moment and the iPhone 4 is quite a lot quicker. The HTC DEsire is not a new phone anymore, and the Desire HD will be out soon. Daman, I'd also wait a little to see how the Windows 7 phones are shaping up. They're due any moment, with several being leaked already. Fitz
As above the iPhone 4 is pretty much all you have described. And mine has been jailbroken and hacked so has TomTom UK&Ireland and it for free I'm quite keen to see how the HTC Desire HD turns out as the desire was a good phone. Graham S
Have you looked at the Samsung Galaxy S? JustGav has one as well as an HTC Desire and the Samsung makes the HTC look dated already but the Galaxy S is border lining the large side. But for me it would be an iPhone 4, purely for the 'ease of use'.

Graham S
One thing I liked about the Galaxy S is the 'Swipe' function. Did Gav show you that? oh yeh, that was quite special.. Very clever idea and yet so simple! I'd have one for sure but i've been a iPhone user for 2 years now and just love the simpleness of them, just frustraitingly waiting for the white one to be released... STILL! Ah the White iPhone 4, something both me and the Mrs. are both waiting for, although forever hearing 'there are manufacturing complications in China' Apparently, you can purchase a DIY kit to turn your iPhone 4 from Black to White for £

From what I have found out, we'll be lucky to get one in time for Christmas! Bloody joke.

BK1
I'm lovin' the Samsung Galaxy S at the mo' My Tom Tom crashed the other day and I was up and running with sat nav on the phone in no time at all (even though I'd not used it before) The Layar thing is cool too (point the camera down the street and it can show you all kinds of info about shops, restaurants, points of interest and where the nearest ATM's are) I have been told that if you take a lot of pics with your phone, that the i-phone is a little better. Deals on the Samsung are much better though!
