Abz
Which book is that ? Watch out, someone might burn it On a serious note, not everyone is bad. Saying that everyone of a certain faith, background or colour is the same is just wrong, so why should an atrocity effect all decisions associated with that faith group (in the case of 9/11) after the atrocity. Its like saying that all the english are bad, just because a load of people are lazy sods, claiming incapacity benefit without good reason, when they are perfectly able to go down the shop and carry a crate of special brew home with them. Its like saying that all the irish are bad, because a small minority chose to plant bombs. Its like saying all thee germans are bad, because of hitler. etc etc etc. We cannot let the actions of a few effect the decisions of the many. Well said I can imagine the pastor driving around in this Quite a few American's are surprised Islam has been around longer than 2001. Supra-Brett
One thing that seems odd to me in all this fuss, is that obama on telly tonight said that there were no laws to stop the burning of the books. In the UK the government recently introduced the laws about inciting racial hatred, and i would imagine that burning any religious book in the UK (and making song and dance about it) would be classed as inciting hatred. I would have thought that America had similar laws ?
dude
I did listen to a debate on the radio and the muslim guy was saying how the Koran only preaches peace, he read a few sections out and that would seem so. therfore surely the Muslims who carry out attrocities and support the beheadings / bombings etc must all be headed to their version of hell. Anyway it would seem that the Koran does preach peace and tolerance, prob far more than our bible.

Mas
Cause the Americans were the ones that flew those planes into 9/11 and invaded two countries at the back of that murdering 100s of thousands of people........ Fairly straight forward wouldn't you say. Well said.

They have no right to judge someone's life & it clearly states this in the Quran. Funny enough Islam & Christianity & very very closely connected. Some people just see bad in everything and find it in the most unusual of places. Taken as written it could only mean one thing, one passage was along the lines of 'if someone offends you then try to understand him and befriend him, sounds pretty peaceful to me!!! So where do all these beardy loonies get their preachings from.
Septic
Oh just thought I might add; just today a bomb went off right next to my home in Pakistan. Luckily my family were fine but others sadly died. A few weeks ago, i was watching tv with my dad and he was watching his Asian news channel. They were showing a guy who got killed in a terrorist attack. My dad just said, "oh that was my class fellow". Extremism seems to have won by a country mile. I can't even go back to visit my relatives or do my training at this top law firm I was given an offer for. It sucks but I guess I should be grateful I'm not one of the hundreds and thousands of innocents killed or one of our soldiers who have been killed as a result of bull$4!7 wars waged where our supposed leaders enjoy their holidays and sleep comfortably whilst everyone else pays the price. Sad times indeed.

Supra-Brett
They will be punished in the after life in hell, or karma or what ever people believe. Well i dont believe in life after death etc. I believe they will be eaten by worms and the matter within their bodies will be used by nature for something else. Basic principle of science - Matter can neither be created nor destroyed. But as you say - whatever people believe:d
Ewen
Its more than a book, its a symbol. The nutters could throw any old book on a fire and claim it was the Koran, it would have the same effect. Singeing suras is seen as a sin...an incendiary act indeed. davej705
Nearly all Muslims are good peaceful people,of this I have no doubt But isn't it time for more and more of them to not only condemn the terrorists but also rat them out of there mosques. That would help stop retards like this pastor claiming all Muslims are the devil etc etc

Septic
Taken as written it could only mean one thing, one passage was along the lines of 'if someone offends you then try to understand him and befriend him, sounds pretty peaceful to me!!! So where do all these beardy loonies get their preachings from. It's actually so easy I reckon I could make people turn into terrorists. What many of you guys dont understand is that some of these people are not educated in the slightest. In fact, I reckon I can get any of you guys to study the Quran in one day and then compare your Islamic knowledge to a member of the Taliban eho can recite the WHOLE Quran in arabic but not know the meaning of 99% of the verses. I've encountered members of the taliban in Pakistan; many of them have no credible Islamic knowledge at all. I'll give you examples; 1) Many of them believe that a woman is inferior to a man. She should walk (figuratively speaking) 10 steps behind a man. Islam, at its inception was famed for giving equal rights to women but with varying responsibilities. 2) Women not allowed to work or study at schools; you may have seen reports/ documentaries on this about Afghanistan. This is complete nonsense. In the Quran itself it is mentioned that a woman can get a job and IN FACT, unlike the man, she can spend every single penny on herself. The husband/ father cannot do that. 3) The Taliban surrounding the area where one of our houses in Pakistan is situated (near the Afghan border) had this vendetta against people dressed in western clothing including a suit! So you couldn't wear a shirt and tie or people would stonr you etc. I mean wtf? I wish I could take some of you guys to see what things are like from the other perspective. There are 1.5 billion Muslims in the world. Unfortunately, it seems only a few hundred can single handedly tarnish all of us. The sad thing is, our Prophet predicted this would happen; from specific references to "black gold" to how there would be many of us Muslims yet we would be killing each other. What more can I say? There are going to be more threads like this whether we like it or not. All I can say is keep an open mind.
