SUPRALOOPY
Well its RED!!!!!!! This is Deans latest car to the collection and I had the pleasure of driving it for 2.5 hours with no temp gauge or oil pressure gauge:blink: As you can see its not very well loved atm, but I have started on the engine and will get more involved as time goes on. The interior needs a bit of work and the body is ok but very faded in places with small rusty bits here and there. The pictures actually make it look better than is. I will keep adding pics as and when I can to show the transformation. Oh btw did you notice that its red outside and in:blink: TBH it looks ok as the car is now that old you can get away with "its retro":D Hope you like the changes. Dave:)

stevie_b
You're a porsche man are you not stevie;) I am. I prefer the 911 variants more, but the 928 is an interesting proposition. I'm cultivating my chest hair for when I can afford one.
grahamc
how the hell did porsche survive the 80s?
Chris Wilson
My wife had a 928 for 18 months and I still get willies when I see one. In fact she was blathering on about how she'd love another when she saw one in the paddock at Oulton the other week. My tears that welled up made their point and she quickly moved on, thank God Touted by 928 aficionados as having a super rigid bodyshell, it's amusing to jack one up under front wishbone and try and open and close the door.... A glovebox full of spare fuses and relays is always a sign of a knowledgeable previous owner, as is a handy fire extinguisher. "Minor" heater control problems are invariably down to the vacuum actuators and their price is always good for a laugh. I am expert at torque tube bearing noises and their (very costly) fix, I am also a dab hand at auto box removal and replacement, something that is oft required when you see the drama involved in checking and topping the ATF level One can spend weeks chasing missing BHP until you realise they are all dog slow, and that the magazine test cars must have been something very dissimilar to what the poor schmuch got when he bought a new one. Have fun.....

Have fun..... OK thanks for that Chris:D This will be made to look nice and put in the barn with all Deans other toys. It drives and pulls well and has A good service history. I know about the gearboxes and will advise Dean. It comes with eyewatering service bills and has had a good bill of health from a porsche "specailist". But as you have now let slip you are an expert I will be pestering you for info when I need it;)
tooquicktostop
Love the comments and the banter, it was never going to be everyone's cup of tea, in fact I had to look at it twice It is more tired than the pics give it justice to be very honest and after I spent ages looking for one this one just kept growing on me, good service history with some very scary bills, but as a multiple Supra owner nothing out of the ordinary! It is worth mentioning that this is a project and will never be a daily driver, in fact it will come out very little indeed, it is about building a collection of cars I always wanted as a younger chap, I will not be selling any more cars, just getting then back to former glory and enjoying them, keeping them stored when not in use, plenty of more projects to come The projects are not designed to be no expense spared but doing the best with a budget, Dave is fantastic at this I have to say I hope Dave enjoys working on these projects, he fits them in around his "out of hours" time and the results I have seen in the 4 cars Dave has worked on for me so far are amazing for the price he has charged me I think this car will be the most challenging yet but I have always loved the 928, it has nothing to do with how it drives, how reliable it is or how others see it, it is purely about collecting the dream cars of old for me, even if they are pigs to others The Golf GTI MK1 is a blast to drive, go-cart like, the Corvette never fails to put a smile on my face and turns heads everywhere I hope you enjoy the progress thread, I will, it may take some time but I know it will be amazing when finished Its worth mentioning when following Dave in the car on Sunday and him booting it, it sounded fantastic and it has just the road presence I always remember the car having, goose bumps
