Digital
Hi guys! I have a question for the Greddy E-manage specialists. I recently bought a Greddy E-manage Blue and I installed it the very basic way(just for tweaking the MAP-signal, not the injectors yet), just to see if it works. I connected the following just like the manual said: red -> 12V+ black -> ground brown -> RPM white -> MAP-signal to loom green -> MAP-signal to ECU I also put the rotary-switches in the correct position, and all the jumpers on the board are in the correct places. All according to the manual. I plugged the main connector(1) in the E-manage unit. When I turn the ignition on the "active"(green) and "interaction"(orange) LEDs on the E-manage unit turn on also. Now if I want to start the engine it wont run! If I disconnect the E-manage unit's connector the engine will start but it will not run smooth because of the cut MAP-signal ofcourse. I think this is strange, why won't the engine start with the E-manage unit connected? The wiring is the same as a disconnected unit, in both ways only the MAP-signal is cut.. Why does this connected E-manage unit have a influence on starting the engine? keef701
I had a similar problem to what you are having, the engine would start and run for about 1 second on the first start, and after then wouldn't start at all. After checking all the wiring, and even plugging back in the original ECU, I eventually traced it to a bad ground connection. The problem was where a previous installation that had tapped into the ground wire before it goes into the ECU, had loosened the connector pin in the plastic block, so when you plugged the ECU back in, the connection was short by only a couple of mm, so from the outside all looked o.k, but was infact not connecting. For some reason when the ECU was plugged in but not the Emanage, the engine would run o.k, so maybe the ECU gets a ground from a separate source as well? It took me a long time to find this, and working in a footwell it's not easy to spot small things like this with a hundred wires going everywhere!! I'm not saying this is your problem, but it would be worth checking the continuity of the ground wire from your main harness into the ECU and Emanage. Hope this helps. Digital
Thanks for the reply! It is indeed as you discribed, engine starts for 1 sec. and then dies! Just now I cut the ground wire from the E-manage-loom and put it directly on the battery's negative. The problem stays, engine starts for 1 sec., dies, and never goes on again unless I disconnect the E-manage loom-connector.
