Guest Rottweiler
Itook my car to a mates garage today as for some reason when driving it will suddenly develop a missfire with the rev counter going up and down like a lift on steroids. If I try to stop, it stalls. It starts again straight away but runs really rough and smokes[black]. He tried to do a diagnostic check in case the fault showed but the plug wouldnt fit the port. He`s convinced its a temperature sensor telling the engine it`s running cold. The problem is we couldn`t find a sensor on the block. Does anyone know where it is? This fault isn`t happening all the time but when it does the car drinks petrol like its going out of fashion- a quarter of a tank in 10 miles! fastcar
Might be wrong about this but have you checked the coil pack clips. They somtimes go brittle with age and brake causeing a missfire.
