NOS
I am going to look at this car tomorrow evening (pictures attached). It is a 2002 WRX with 100,000 miles. The car is pretty much stock. I have never owned a Subaru before so what should I be looking out for tomorrow whilst inspecting this car? What problems are Impreza's specifically prone to, etc.? Neil-NA
What problems are Impreza's specifically prone to, etc.? The biggest problem is that most are driven by tits.
Purity14
Im not sure if these were featured in the F&F films as much as the Supra tbh
NOS
The biggest problem is that most are driven by tits. I am aware of this, but this seller seems like a genuine mature owner. He is from a small town and a guy I work with knows him and assures me he is simply a car enthusiast and not your stereotypical Subaru Impreza owner chav. I completely appreciate the reputation these cars have because of their owners, but I do genuinely just like the car.
Benyon
Im not sure if these were featured in the F&F films as much as the Supra tbh Lmao, I cant really comment on that model however it does look very nice, Hope its as good as it looks in the photos bud. Edit: Whats a good price for one of those badboys?
Suprab1
I was chatting to a tuner & he said that the j-spec impreza reacts very badly to 95 octain petrol. So make sure it has been run on 99.

Yeah that's true, you can put 95 in if you get stuck but stay off boost
Scott
The fact that it is completely stock should mean it is decent. They are notorious for chocolate gearboxes and bottom ends, that is only really when pushing things past stock though. As long as it hasn't seen a lot of hard launches it should be pretty reliable. You will know straight away with the maintenence history, if he is serious about the car he will have stacks of it. Now looking at the picture though, it has a front mount? That can't be right surely?

Westcoaster
Making sure that it is a WRX and not a normal 2 litre Sport tarted up is a useful thing to check!
KamaSupra
That looks well tidy Have to admit though, I was never a big fan of the bug eyed looking headlights on these scoobys. But those headlights/headlight eye brows on this car look pretty good, it looks mean
Shane
Assuming its on it's original engine, I would be concerned about the mileage if it's running anything other than stock boost, or if you are planning to up the boost. Listen out for what sounds like piston slap when cold, it's the first sign of impending problems. Bottom ends tend give up at around 90k with high boost/driven hard. My eldest has been through 3 now and 2 of them suffered failed bottom end at that sort of mileage, apparently this is really common. The true factory STIs are the ones to go for as they have uprated internals and can stand more abuse. More concerning, are we losing you then Nos? Thought you lived for Supas and the FF image. NOS
More concerning, are we losing you then Nos? Thought you lived for Supas and the FF image. No, of course you're not losing me! You're not that lucky...yet! Making sure that it is a WRX and not a normal 2 litre Sport tarted up is a useful thing to check! How will I check if it's a genuine WRX? davej705
Nos u need to check the turbo, make sure it hasn't been changed for a smaller cheaper model as some people do that when there's give out. Not sure but I think that model ran a td05
Scott
Was the 2 litre sport not an NA? Yeah, so unless the intercooler is painted on it's definitely at the very least a WRX.

davej705
It has sti badge on the back,if it is an sti you'll get nicer seats, interior, bottom end will be good for 400bhp with full supporting mods and better brakes. Oh yeah and intercooler water spray system (although probably doesn't work due to it having a front mount now)

NOS
Did he mention the intercooler? No he didn't. I have texted him asking if it is a 100% genuine WRX or a 2.0 turbo, eventhough he has told me previously that it's a WRX. I will keep you posted.......
