high milage going single ?

3k isn't going to cut it for a single unfortunately. A decent single turbo kit will cost that before you fuel it or map it.

 

Mileage isn't anything to worry about. A compression test and leak down test will tell you if your engine is healthy enough. I would always recommend changing the main ancillaries when going for a single install (oil pump etc).

I'm not a big fan of piggy back ecu's on the best of days but going single i would say no no..

 

if your doing most of the work and you have the time you should be ok. maybe find a good seccond hand turbo from a member on here :) i'v seen a few going. that will save you a few pennies.

Full service (different plugs, fresh oil & filter etc)

Leak Down Test

Turbo Elbow/Downpipe

Fabrication of pipework from Turbo to Intercooler

Large K&N filter

Oil Return Lines for Turbo

Oil Vapour Breather setup/catchcan

 

 

I'd also recommend..

 

Front Crank Oil Seal

Oil Pump

Water Pump

Pulley wheel

Timing Belt

Aux Belt

 

These are the things you need done for peace of mind. The autobox isn't much good after 500ish HP (Depending on torque levels of course) so you would need to look into a built box after that.

please correct me but wouldnt the

gt35r

be running at max to make the 500hp

wouldnt it be safer to run a 600hp turbo at lower psi or am i completly wrong?

i just looked on ebay and this turbo is £300 from america so very cheap

 

GT35R can produce around 520bhp @ 1.4bar ish. Nic on here had a very nice example

Agree.

 

What about just getting a supra that has already been converted and running reliably 1-2 years.....

I'd say you want to double that £3K budget at least mate, to go single on a reliable basis.

 

I've spent over £8K already, and i'm still fitting supporting mods.

 

My advise would be, do your homework before deciding on which route to go down. Take everything into account, like fitting larger brakes etc, to cope with the increase in power ;)

 

The single route is like opening a pack of pringles. ONCE YOU POP YOU CAN'T STOP!! :D

Mine was a GT3582R (double ball bearing) with a T4 AR 0.82 exhaust housing, perfect for a fast and responsive street setup.
