Celica STi throttle problem

Also posted in Non - Supra tech but here in case anyone misses the other post :)

I have a problem with my old Gen 6 or is it Gen 5 (the one with the double headlights) Celica. It is a 1995 n reg automatic import and has recently had a full service including cambelt change and auto box fluid change.

The problem has manifested itself over the past few days whereby on starting (it starts fine) the revs do not go high and it sometimes struggles to find revs when you take off. also, it has suddenly started to go "stop start" with the throttle as if you are pressing and taking your foot off when in fact, you keep your foot where it is. I have also noticed the o/d light flashing.

Any ideas?

Sounds more like air flow meter if it has one.

I am not sure if it has one

Whilst he was having a quick look he took the air filter cover off and it ran OK. Would that have altered if the air flow meter was dodgy / or working properly?

Gen 6 mate. I only know coz I had a Gen 5 as my first import sports car (retracting headlights). A right hairdressers car but I loved it and if a decent CS came up for sale i would snap one up now:D.

Anyway try these guys. There is a Gen 6 forum and the club is as active as this one. I had some great contacts with my Gen 5:) 6 years ago and the club has not changed too much.

Well, it wasn't a fuel problem as the pressure is fine both from the pump and through the filter. He then thought that maybe it was a problem with the TPS but that was OK to.

He now thinks it may be a problem with the auto box (electrical signal fault) and is having someone look tomorrow :(
