BazzaAlpine
Hi all, I desprately need some help here. I've spent the last several hours looking at posts but can't seem to find anything helpfull. I've also been checking the solutions for the BU-353 unit as there is very little on the 333N. Basically I installed the above unit on a Windows 7 64bit machine using the default drivers that came with the mini-cd and it seemed to work fine. However, when I started my carpc (Normal bootup not hibernation) it didn't pick up any GPS. The GPS unit itself is getting a signal fine though. Tried uninstaling and reinstalling the drivers but it still didn't work. Keeps saying Device not recognised whenever I plug it in after installing (and in some cases rebooting as well) the Profilic software. At that point I moved to my home PC which is Vista ultimate 64bit and am getting exactly the same thing I cannot for the life of me get it to recognise the device. I don't know if this could be a cause or just a side effect but under the ports section (which seems to be one of the more common solutions to try) I don't even get the prolific usb to com (Com#) even listed. The only thing I did find that may be of use is when I started the pc in safe mode and looked at the device details it said I was on port#10.hub#1. Now from what I understand that potantially means the device should be on com 10? However all the things that look for com ports (GPinfo, xport (which I do not actually use) and the Serif demo) are only listing com 1 (on my home pc) and com 1,7 and 8 on my car pc (my bluetooth seems to set up 7 and 8). I even tried taking out the bluetooth to see if it was conflicting but no joy. I've tried uninstalling and rebooting then installing several versions of the pl2303 driver including versions 110 and 130. Can someone please shed some light on this Cheers

BazzaAlpine
Nope still doing the same thing . I'm pretty sure it's either a firmware or hardware issue now as I plugged my old gps in (with the latest drivers for the new GPS) and it worked better than it has done for a year. Thanks for looking though.
