Mike
Samsung release their Galaxy Tab IFA Samsung enters mobile computer market with 7in Galaxy Tab, launched at IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin. The 7in Android-based tablet computer with built-in phone capabilities is expected to challenge the Apple iPad. The iPad has had a mixed reception... but Samsung seem to be hell bent on stealing their market share these days. Would you buy one? No price details as yet... obviously.. monsween
I'd quite like to see something more entry level to read books on. Thats all i think they are good for if you ask me. From seeing the ireaders and ipad i have to admit reading on the ipad is alot better with the backlight.
JustGav
The archos units are a good one to consider as well. Also android.

Thorin
I've heard Samsung used ground up dolphin fins to make this, then killed a few whales for a laugh. I hope you're happy!

marc_p
This looks even more pointless than the iPad if you ask me, it's about 50% larger than an iPod touch, so a lot smaller than the iPad which puts it in a niche market within a niche market. They are doing a 10" version as well I believe.

JustGav
I've found a pad VERY handy actually, especially in meetings or sat at home on the couch and just doing casual work/browsing. They do surprisingly have their place and I'm by no means an apple fanboi.. I do have a 10" apad however though
monsween
Amazon Kindle? Did not know that existed! May have to go on the xmas list! EDIT does anyone own one of these?
Scott
I like the fact that this actually accepts a sim card, will make it a bit more useful when outside the house/work/school. I still think they are way overpriced though. The cheap copies are far better value for money.

They do surprisingly have their place and I'm by no means an apple fanboi.. I do have a 10" apad however though I agree, not an essential tool but much more mobile yet, large enough to use properly. Like you mentioned excellent for lounging on the sofa or using in a meeting! This Samsung looks ugly though!

I watched some video reviews and the web browsing seemed really poor, seemed to render the pages really slowly a bit like my old G1 was. What Android build is the one you have? They do seem pretty cool though and good value for money, I was half thinking about getting one, would be nice to hear what they are like first hand. I have been looking at them on Ebay, how do you rate it?
JustGav
Would that be the 10" android based aPad ? I have been looking at them on Ebay, how do you rate it? They aren't apple ipads, that much I will say up front, and the OOB experience isn't comparable, HOWEVER if you are prepared to fiddle and get it right, for 90% of the stuff it is as good as an ipad and at 1/3 of the price, definitely worth considering. I got the Zenithink ZT-180 unit which is okay IF you remember the above (It runs android 2.1 with the 0827 firmware) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-2-Android-2-1-1GHZ-CPU-256RAM-Apad-ePad-UK-STK-/140436436182?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item20b2a9f4d6

Pete
Depends how much it'll cost. I've just read around £700!? If it's the same price as an iPad then I'll stick with Apple.
