Starter Refurb Kit made no difference

Had the intermittant click and not starting so fitted a refurb kit from Mr T. Thought it had cured the problem but it is still the same - sometimes just a click, sometimes it starts no problem.

 

Before buying another motor is there anything else that might be faulty? Would the relay cause the same symptoms?

Same happened to me and it turned out to be that the cranking power on my battery was knackered. A new battery and all was sorted

The same thing happened to me, starter gave up completely so I fitted a refurb kit which worked fine for a about a week then it started playing up again so I got back under the car and managed to tighten the starter live nut about 1/8 of a turn since then it's given me no problems.

 

Hopefully your fix will be this easy.

Did the starter refirb kit replace the solenoid, I think this could be the chase or your problem

Make sure all connections are freshly cleaned with emery paper, use a quality terminal protector to keep out corrosion. I use Contralube 770 on every electrical connection.

Did the kit replace the starter solenoid copper contacts, or the brushes? It's the contacts that usually burn away and cause the trouble.
