Rare 1968 Toyota Corona

Recommended Posts

1968 Toyota Corona 1490cc 74bhp 4 speed man with 2 previous owners from new.

All engine, running gear and breaks rebuilt.

Stacks and stacks of history from new.

I am just contemplating selling my classic toyota as i have literally used it about 2 or 3 times since i have owned it.

These are very rare in the uk (maybe 5 or so in uk) and this is a UK car and not an import.

I keep getting urges to modify it but i know it would be so wrong of me to do so hence another reason of possibly selling.

As its so rare it's difficult to price and would highly recommend viewing to get a good idea of its condition.

Its a very clean car but but the bodywork is not perfect but i have to keep reminding myself its nearly 43 years old.

I took this to japfest earlier on this year and drove it home on a 4 hour journey and it never missed a beat but would never do it again :taped: unless it was just country lanes all the way.

When i got i home i had years MOT and tax put on it and no major issues or advisories found in the mot test.

It's tax exempt also so its a cheap classic to run.

A few of my friends have driven the corona and its quite an enjoyable experience and does turn alot of heads. Even the classic car nerds are stumped to as what it actually is.

Some pictures taken on my firends phone just a few hours ago.

Im not yet sure on price but would consider maybe a p/x or possible swap with something i can get more use from and have a little fun in but ideally my next project will be an AE86.

Have you got an idea on price?

If i was to swap the car i would be looking for something about £3k but maybe £2.5k for cash but the longer i keep it the more bits and bobs i will do so the price will eventually rise.

Done a fair bit to it already as it had no mot or tax when i got it.

Very nice car, was this the one at Japfest back in April??

Thats the one ;)

Ahhh thought so, it was parked up next to my black aerotop on the end of the line of Supras :) I had a look around the Corona, gorgeous clean car, very good example. Lots of people were looking at it. I even got asked if it was mine at one point :D Good luck with the sale, buyer will be more than happy with it!!

Today the corona finally had new points, dizzy cap, rotor arm etc but the best bit was fitting the newly refurbished rad that was done by arrow in bristol.

I was thinking of just putting it in storage for a couple of years then having all the bodywork redone, lowered a bit with some minilites or ccw's.

Then maybe 4age on bodies to be a bit different

Don't chop it about. Leave it as it is, just keep it running. I may cry a little. :(

I have a few mid 70's celicas in various states of repair and I have thought about shoehorning in a 3s-gte or a 'large' v8 in several times. then I get a reality check and realise they can never be replaced. I'll change the wheels but only for something contemporary, I have some 70's chrome wheels and some old wolfraces but stay away from anything modern

I need to sell this as it's breaking my heart just sitting about doing nothing. I will let it go for silly money if the prospective buyer can prove they will care for it and give it the attention it needs.

Took it out for a drive tonight for the first time in about 7 months and it does turn heads and puts a smile on your face in a way an old beast like this can.
