ive had about 12 of them!

and tried pretty much every other jap car in between and always go back to s13s as there awesome!

engines have a bad reputation, mainly due to the internet like most things, people buy cheap s13s with 150k on the clock and no history, try and shove 2 bar of boost through them and then cry because the big ends give up.

value for money though, i think s13s are the best bang for buck you can get. and id go as far as say theres almost nothing on them that would cost more than £100 to fix if it broke! (yep even engines are that cheap!)

and can be made to look awesome. this was my last one, sure some of you have seen it:

for the winter id be inclined to go for a front wheel or 4 wheel drive car... RWD is the ice and snow is impossiable!!! as we all know lol

Only trouble is I can't have a bit of tale happy fun in a fwd car, certainly for a b road car I would look at a little 106 rally.

Been looking for a similar kind of car recently myself for £2k. I've already had 2 s13's which have both blown thier ca18's in my ownership. You should be able to pick up an S14 for £2k and even a higher mileage one is more robust than an S13. Rot is also a major issue on the S13.

I was looking at e36 BMW 3 series instead as these appear to be better built than 200sx's are (although they still rust) and 2nd hand parts are very cheap

Im a great fan of the silvia myself, been looking for a S14/15 for a while now in japan, waiting for something come along that looks good enough in and out yet affordable as a 2nd.........actually 4th car.

Not sure if its the best car for winter though :p

I've had a S13 as well and personally don't rate the CA 1.8 engine even standard low mileage bottom ends tend to give up quite easily.

Interestingly Nissan dropped this engine after only a couple of years and put the S14 2.0 in the Jap version the SX180 quite a few have been imported across here.

S15 is the one to have.
