apoc_reg
Has anyone succesfully (or otherwise!) removed the orange plastic from inside facelift front indicators? Love them to be fully clear! Cheers guys and gals
Jake
Yeah, quite a few folks have snapped it off and pulled it out. Apparently it's quite easy. Never tried it myself though.
merckx
It is easy to do, no need to put it in the oven! Easier with some long nose pliers.
Digsy
I opened my indicators up and removed the smashing jaffa orangey bit. I wish I had just snapped it off now. Much easier!

merckx
Push something in where the bulb goes and break it free, it's only held on by 1 screw.(It is orange) Then reach in with long nose pliers to breaks it into small pieces which will come out. SteveR
If this is the case why do people bother fitting facelift indicators?? I'm a bit lost.
merckx
The facelift indicators also incorporate the side lights aswell, the lense is clear but there is a orange plastic piece which goes over the indicator bulb on the inside. The pre-facelift indicators have an orange lense.
SteveR
doh! Penny drops now, thought you were all on about pre-facelift lights. Stupid Steve
Kite
Push something in where the bulb goes and break it free, it's only held on by 1 screw.(It is orange) Then reach in with long nose pliers to breaks it into small pieces which will come out. I know this is a really old thread but I´m in the process of doing this. After I break the orange part off will it leave any orange part in the housing? I would like to completely remove the orange parts so that not even a small orange part is left inside the housing. Is this possible without opening the housing? ivan
Alternatively, you could buy a set of completely clear ones from Ebay like I did...
Kite
Alternatively, you could buy a set of completely clear ones from Ebay like I did... I know that would be the easiest solution, but I really favour original Toyota ones more...

supra steveo
so you just snap them then?
AntD
IIRC you have to unscrew the yellow bits.Did mine over a year ago.Nothing to it really.
Pabs
sorry to drag this up guys: One of my orangey bits is loose inside the indicator, so I want to remove them completely. Tried to snap it off, and the whole bit is now loose inside the indicator - however, I cant break it up easily - it's quite strong plastic. Any tips? merckx
I removed the orange bit from one of mine, screwdriver and long nose pliers did the job.
Pabs
thanks guys. Done the oven job now - was much easier sitting trying to break it - I tried this and just ended up scratching the reflective surfaces inside the light (luckily this cannot be seen through the clear front). Anyway - they are back together and look pretty good, apart from the fact I seem to have got the sealant stuff around the outside edge of the clear bit and it looks messy. I'm going to add some more black sealant around the outside edge soon anyway, and I've got to get some of those Philips Silvervision WY21W wedge bulbs on order from powerbulbs or similar. Otherwise pretty good, and no orange blobs!
