Been a busy few months for me...

Firstly, my Son arrived last Monday. Very much like my Daughters birth 4 years ago, it all went pear shaped during labour and had to be rushed down to have a C section. Needless to say there wont be anymore! Both doing fine now. :)

Jake.....

Secondly, over the last few months i've been going through quite an intense assessment process for a new job, and last month after 7 years of trying, I was finally successfull, and start next week!

My new company vehicle has 1600bhp, but only need to ever do 75mph. It has 24 wheels, all steel 24", but it corners like its on rails.......what am I? :D

Didnt realise train drivers were on such a good packet, whats the critera for being one?

I couldnt be one myself mind, but just out of interest :)

Its VERY tough to get a position off the street. 8 strict assessments of concentration, reactions, fault finding, Ability to take in information, a structured interview and 2 further interviews. 7 months of training, route learning, traction training, rules etc.

The rewards are very good though, free train travel on your own companys trains, free oyster card, and 75% off train travel for me and my family across the UK and Europe inc Eurostar. Solid salary, good pension. 36 hours basic a week, 4 on, 4 off, 5 on, 9 off!

Salarys vary from £35k - £50 and £70k for Eurostar drivers. I'll be London based so its slightly over average.
