pedrosixfour
Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone has any experience, good or bad, with these rims? I'm thinking about a slightly wider set of rims than the 17" Work Cr Kai I'm currently running (8" front & 9" rear) **possibly for sale ** to help front end grip and drive out of the corners when the 1JZ is fitted. These are still 17" rims but are 8.5" & 9.5". Offset is +29 front and rear. Does anyone know if they'll clear UK brakes? They are apparently relatively rare 3 piece split rims, is there any major drawback or advantage to running these purely on the track? Are the generally lighter or heavier than one piece rims of similar dimensions? Would parts, namely the outer rims, be interchangable with the rest of the SSR range? Any information would be greatly appreciated as this particular set seems to be good value in light of what I've uncovered on the net. Thanks for your time. Damien. jim
Get them bought Damien if they're a good price, worry about the sensible stuff (like if they fit) afterwards lol They're very nice looking rims, I'm sure they'd sell on driftworks in minutes if they don't fit the Supra. pedrosixfour
Jim you should come with a tail, horns and pitch fork! I'm trying to limit myself to sensible buys!
DodgyRog
They are very nice rims not buy:tempted: buy :devil:buy:devil:buy:devil:
pedrosixfour
Looks aside though my main concern is would they compare well to the Work Cr Kai rims for quality and suitability? Is SSR at the sharp end of the stick in alloy wheel circles? Gedditt???!!!
kwalker705
I had a set on my old S14 silvia. They looked good , stood up well to the weather salt ont he roads. Even after I was done with them and had broken the car I still got good money for them. Make sure they come with the centre caps and the small allen bolt's that attach them to the wheel
Nic
Looks aside though my main concern is would they compare well to the Work Cr Kai rims for quality and suitability? The Works CR Kai wheels will be quite a bit lighter than 3 piece SSR wheels. For the track the Works wheels would be a better choice. Quality wise both are good, the SSR wheels would have been quite expensive when new.

Thank you Nic, you've saved me from myself. Are the Cr Kai only available up to 9" wide in 17's? I've looked at the official websites and it appears so but is this definite or are special widths available anywhere? Prior to spotting the Koenigs I was thinking about moving the 9" up to the front and putting a 9.5" or 10" on the rear.
Nic
It looks like 9 is the widest they do, they won't do custom widths as they are a one piece casting.
pedrosixfour
Would running 9" front and rear be a bad idea? Its a common enough set up in Mazda Rx7 circles isn't it?
Kirk
D. A few of the track addicts in the states run 9.5s on all corners with staggered sizes. I have no idea how this effects the handling but general feed back seems good. A 9.5 will give you a bit more tyre width to play with though
