Fifty
Thx Rich kind of you.... 17 months on I just have no idea what to do now. I keep trying but something has to work soon things are starting to look bleak. It seems my 30 years of graft appears to be worth nothing; but I guess thats just an emotional response to today. The problem is there is just nowhere to seek advice without big bucks being paid out. I have my studies but thats a long shot at best; it seems I cant even get manual work. Im not whing just a bit lost right now. any help appreciated

MichaelG
Am sure it will work out mate, i went through much the same when i worked offshore, got turned down for 30+ jobs on the trot, and when i wasnt expecting anything i was head hunted from out of the blue. Very surprising. Something always turns up, its just how you handle the "time in between" that is a PITA i know. Very frustrating and demoralising, but flick them the bird, and fill out the next application / go to the next interview fresh as a daisy! In the end things work out for the good. Its the way of the world my friend.

psymon
Been in the same boat 50 18 months outta work, went to an agency in the end and was given a full contract after 6 months. Something will turn up, besides you really didn 't want that last poxy job (right) next one will be better. Chin up mate
Fifty
Hi Psymon OK sorry it took you a while as well. Actually yep the job wasnt soo good; crap salary but right now Im in freefall; this little scenario is costing me £K2 per month from my meagre savings with no way to cut. Can I ask which agency you used since you are very close to me? Now is anyone prepared to help me with CV etc (although feedback is good) its just the shortage of jobs or precise targetting I need help with. If your in that field can you offer me help? Also anyone local in IT ? as Im training in that any "trainee" role, local wud help.
Aerotop Dave
If you like, my girlfriend can look over your CV - she's an HR manager. It's part of her 'people development' side that she goes over people's CVs when they are applying for new jobs. The only thing we had on our board was for a medical sales representative in Devon. Unless you fancy the commute over to Greenford or Crawley each day (all our sites are based in the South East unfortunately). We almost certainly have a microbiology job coming up next month, but again it's South East (Essex). I know of another micro job at Crawley, but... SE yet again. colsoop
I am in a similar boat to you and understand what you are going through. Another avenue you could try but is a bit of a gamble is to contact the mangers of a few local IT companies and offer to work for free in return for work experience and a glowing reference. If you are good enough or shine it could lead to a job and while you are working for said company put that companies details as your current employer If you see what i mean and carry on putting out your c.v. It is a bit of a gamble but as you say you are spending money sitting there so you may as well get experience.
Fifty
Dave That would be a great help m8 can you PM me your EMail and with your permission Ill send it over. The medical rep job would interest me (in Devon) in the sense that I can learn fast etc etc. I have done some sales but quite a while back. Still got good comm skills etc amnd would enjoy moving around. - what do you think? See my prob is I am really just a general manager, who can get things done, a bit of a jack of all trades really. I really need to be chasing KPIs and the like, organsing labour etc. Managing people is what I m about. I do of course have bags of technical/quality experience. I feel I could cope with almost anything -- its just getting the opportunity. thx 50 Col sorry you are in the same boat m8 can I help with anything.
