I bought an xbox 360 from an ebay online shop, it was suppose to be in full working order however after having it turned on for 20 minutes the picture starts going funny. Anyways I spoke to the seller and its ok to return however they are only refunding me the cost of the xbox and not the £10 postage I paid, Is that right?

It is up to them if they want to refund you the postage and you will probably have to pay the postage to get it back to them.

Ok thanks, Im gonna message them with this infomation.

Did the same thing happen to you?

Yes, about a year ago and given what Supragirlie has said I should have also been refunded the carriage but the seller said that his terms did not state that he had to refund postage. Ebay were as much use as a rubber nail!

If that's relevant to this situation then I was done :(

It only applies to Business's, and I think there is a loop hole if it was bought on an auction as opposed to a 'Buy it Now' but I'm not too sure on that one...

Most people aren't aware of it and just assume they won't get their postage back so most places won't refund unless asked.. In my opinion, I don't think businesses should have to pay for returns or refund postage if the item is not faulty as it is harsh on small businesses.

Im getting a full refund now so im happy they didnt try ripping me off :D

@Supra aero, Ive still got my original one but which got the 3 red lights, I took it to get fixed and the guy at the shop said whoever had it before me must have done a youtube fix so it would only work a short while then break again then it cant be fixed as it fry's everything (or somthing like that).

Which is true IF they don't upgrade internals. Mines had or having:

An upgraded fan which is much more efficient.

Heatsinks on memory chips

Heat pads to keep the motherboard off the chassis to improve airflow

Extra ducting to help cooling

Mine now sits on a laptop cooling pad which is angled to keep hot air venting out of the top

 new blue lights and stuff. A major overhaul indeed.

No, under the Sales Of Goods Act they must refund the postage as it was faulty. And if you link them to the Distance Selling Regulations it is stated there too, you even have to refund if there was nothing wrong with it regardless of what their Terms & Conditions say.

That's right. As a seller you have to refund the hole amount. It does state that somewhere on ebay in the dispute section. Copy and paste it then send it to the seller.

Interesting to know. I'm never using ebay to sell for that reason now (unless postage is minimal)
