NOS
Thinking of going away for a weekend in October to somewhere in either England or Scotland. I want somewhere with nice pubs. Not necessarily into the whole night club scene (akin to ''Booze Britain'') so something with convenient transport to and from the local airport would be a plus. Just somewhere with some nice pubs showing the football..... nice carvery..... pints..... friendly locals. I have been to Newcastle several times which I love, especially on a match-day, but would like to try somewhere new this time around. Recommendations/advice/suggestions greatly appreciated. edge
Bath - lots of history, fairly priced and good for busses and trains. Nice people!
The-Plethora
I'd probably go with Bath as well. Historic stuff to see, nice place, decent scenery and pretty much everything you want.

Ian W
What about Glasgow?? I love Glasgow. Prefer it to Edinburgh in all honesty but the 'tourists' will always prefer Edinburgh
Purity14
What about Glasgow?? Im a tourist, Edinburgh is better, they have it all. There is a really good comedy club too not far out from the city. Dont stay in the Great North Western, its overpriced and crap.

Plenty to see and do during the day and lots of bars, pubs and resaraunts for the night times. Not too far from Leeds/Bradford airport either. Let me know if you want any more specific details. Harry Sachs
I'd personally go for Glasgow over Edinburgh everytime. It's more laid back and less "up it's own @rse" than Edinburgh. If you want to sample Edinburgh without actully going there then a night out in the West End of Glasgow would probably suffice. There is a Jungleurs (SP) in Glasgow city centre, which I'd only 10mins from Glasgow airport and have accommodation for all price ranges. Westcoaster
Glasgow:cool: There are no Scots in Edinburgh, it's the coldest and rudest city in Scotland. It's also the only place where a junkie tried to rob me in broad daylight in the west end!
