Weekend away in UK - recommendation

NOS

Recommended Posts

Thinking of going away for a weekend in October to somewhere in either England or Scotland. :friday:

I want somewhere with nice pubs. Not necessarily into the whole night club scene (akin to ''Booze Britain'') so something with convenient transport to and from the local airport would be a plus.

Just somewhere with some nice pubs showing the football..... nice carvery..... pints..... friendly locals.:burp:

I have been to Newcastle several times which I love, especially on a match-day, but would like to try somewhere new this time around.

Recommendations/advice/suggestions greatly appreciated.

me and the mrs spend a long weekend camping in york at the beginning of the month, that was pretty good, there was lots to see and do, because we camped out it was easy on the wallet too

Yeah Yorks pretty good if you haven't been before. Plenty to see and do during the day and lots of bars, pubs and resaraunts for the night times.

Not too far from Leeds/Bradford airport either.

Let me know if you want any more specific details.

I'd personally go for Glasgow over Edinburgh everytime. It's more laid back and less "up it's own @rse" than Edinburgh.

If you want to sample Edinburgh without actully going there then a night out in the West End of Glasgow would probably suffice.

There is a Jungleurs (SP) in Glasgow city centre, which I'd only 10mins from Glasgow airport and have accommodation for all price ranges.
