Nic
I want to be able to enter a weight in grams on a spread sheet and have the formula automatically work out the postage cost. There is basically one price for parcels up to 500g, then another price for parcels upto 1000g, then anything over 1000g there is an additional charge for every extra 500g (on top of the 1000g cost.) There are 2 such formula I need one for surface post and one for airmail. If you could help I would be very grateful
tbourner
How about: =IF(A1 The bold numbers are the prices for each, the 3 is gonna be tricky though - is it added on to the price for 2? If so you'll have to put the whole ((A1-1000)/500)*3 in a bracket with +2 on the end as well (I think). Obviously this is all with the grams figure in A1. tbourner
That doesn't work does it!!! =IF(A1 I've put in 25 as the
tbourner
And if you change the (A1-500) bit for (A1-501) it lets you go up to (for example) 1500 grams without the price going up, it will only go up to the next 'level' at 1501. Well that's the first 30 mins of work filled!!! Ooh look, 2000 posts!!!

Digsy
Actually, I did start trying to do this, but I was trying to make it so you had the parcel sizes and prices and extra prices on a separate sheet, so they could all be changed later on if necessary (as the club clothing spreadsheet I did for Rosie is done). I couldn't quite get this one to work in the time available.
SteveR
I did
SteveR
To be fair though it took more work than I was expecting, it wasn't easy peasy so it was nice to dust off my excel skills Years ago I was working for a heating company between uni terms and I wrote a s/sheet so complex/cunning that it did all the work of a part-time employee (2 days a week) and she was made redundant....oops!
