Guigsy
just the box? or all the bits that come with it for a conversion? just for the box £2500 ish roughly, have seen them go for more (and less).
Guest initial_j
just the box, second hand i happen to have one on my jzx90, which will probably be coming out to swap for a 1jz+r154. so trying to get an idea how much to sell it for. Guest initial_j
i will be, however not until ive actually got it off the car and 1000 percent confirmed it is. that was the reason behind my second question, there isnt any other 6 speed boxes from toyota, is there? Jurgen-Jm-Imports
so anyone else? 2500 sounds about right then? 2500 for the box on its own is too expensive... we sell the conversions from 2200-2500
Swampy442
As you know a guy on DW is importing them for 1000... There were only 2, 6 speed boxes, a V160 and a V161.

Swampy442
Im hoping the supply will bring the price down to the level that an unknown second hand gearbox should be, 2 grand is just madness. Homer
He can't get them anymore, at least no where near that price Swampy, when demand on 2nd hjand parts increases, the price of those items goes up, not down. Look what happened to the R154 after the DW guys started snapping them up. They used to be available for £50-100.

There were only 2, 6 speed boxes, a V160 and a V161. whats the difference between the two? and yeah i did see that, however ill believe it when they actually turn up and work! as that sounds suspiciously cheap. this is a box on a car, that works and has known history. and is in the country now! Linky :- http://www.driftworks.com/forum/parts-sale-private-sales/120632-1jz-2jz-r154-v160-engines-gearboxes.html seems cheap i think the engines will be aristo ones... which go for around 800 so 1200 for box only makes 2k still seems a very good price for both. has anybody used this guy before ie for containers ? or is this a new venture.. just seems too good and also only taking 15% deposit.. Jurgen-Jm-Imports
just had a look so they are just starting out http://tjz-engineering.com/Company-Profile(2054744).htm am just hoping his figures are correct.. there is a lot of costs when containers hit UK £2500 plus and also costs of loading in japan with container £3000 depending on size. he seems like a nice chap but am not sure hes worked his costs out as 2k for engine and box shipped and customs cleared and with profit ??. we get a lot of emails from customers when they see some parts on yahoo (they want to buy and think the price is the yahoo price.) but there is a lot more costs to that. swampy keep me posted on this (if it all turns out ok).. there is a lot of 2jz engines out of 200,000km aristos cheap as chips for around £400 in japan but if hes selling 40,000 miles or less.. these go for minumum starting price of £800 just to buy with any extra costs in japan or UK. Swampy442
I havent ordered anything Jurgen, I enquired about an R154 because its less work to fit to an Aristo plus I dont like the 6 speed. I already have a 154 but its from a Supra, so need the bell and the shifter extending, if those are Soarer boxes its straight in so cheaper in the long run. Jamesy mate, Im not sure if the Sup needs trans tunnel work to fit a 6'er but the usual clutch, flywheel, clutch pedal and cylinders, brake pedal mod and wiring mods for the start circuit. Jurgen should know more

Guest initial_j
that was pretty much my point. from experience, anything that sounds too good to be true usualy is. ive spoke to a lot of importers, and i cant help thinking the guy has not worked out the costs yet. anyway, ill be sticking my box up for 2k regardless, as its here, it works and i know where it came from! Guest initial_j
for what? a manual conversion? flywheel and pedals i guess. im only selling the box as the 2j setup is getting removed to be replaced with a 1jz and r154. ill start a proper advert later when its off the car

TLicense
Blimey, I'm glad I did my conversion when I did, back in the day. I think my gearbox cost me £600.
Little Matt
gearboxes will be from soarers...email going across tonight with details on all parts for conversions. reason i can no longer get v160 boxes is that i've moved supply from japan to malaysia because i didn't trust the japan supply. he may or may not have got what i wanted, trawling the auctions buying for me and taking delivery of items i bought. new supplier in malaysia is 100% trustworthy and has been used by uk companies before. prices are not correct on my adverts, apologies for not tearing it down but it had kinda died on DW so left it rather then bring attention to it again till i know what's what 1 million percent tomorrow. again, apologies to everyone awaiting email replies, flat out trying to do in 1 week what took me 4 originally. will be in touch soon. as for all the enquiries about fitting...no matter how much id love to do it cos i love holding a spanner and working not sitting in front of a computer all, im just not in a position to accept the volume of work that enquiries are showing. P.S - R154 and 1JZ and 2JZ prices are pretty accurate at the mo, only a couple of hundred quid up from last supplier so don't worry, im not going to double the cost of everything over night. thanks all. matt
