gurnam
As per the subject, I'm experiencing some strange issues with my 1995 JDM 6spd Supra. First off, I removed the air filter today and found a bit of oil around the plastic surround of the filter and some oil within the air filter compartment. This is all standard parts with filter replaced not long ago. Next I disconnected the IC pipe that sits beside the air filter piping (hot pipe?) and found oil within it. Can anyone tell me what all this means? Have I something to worry about?
dr_jekyll
possibly turbo seals dieing but if its just a fine film of oil thats normal on turbo cars
Chris Wilson
If it doesn't smoke, makes proper boost and doesn't drink engine oil I would say don't worry.
gurnam
Thanks guys, I'll keep a close eye on the oil level. It struggles to hold boost & amount of oil was a little too much for my liking. Tubby doesn't smoke at all though but first turbo doesn't feel as strong as it used to.
Nepalm
i had the same prob with my celica gt4 but when i remove the hose to check the turbo there was no oil so i wouldn't worry
Swampy442
Yeah a bit of oil is nothing to worry about. The breather system exits into the turbo system too so an accumulation of oil is no biggie.
2soops
This exact same thing happened to mine, but after a short while it started smoking very badly when you lifted off the throttle, and you guessed it, one of the seals gone. When it finally died there was about half a pint of oil in the intake system, and i had to literally pour it out of the turbo before taking it to get rebuilt. Id keep a close eye on it
