Willson
I am thinking of buying a second car which I can use for track days. I am looking at an mx5 for approx £1500. Now I understand that you can't use your NCB on more than one policy. Can you get insurance cheaply for cars only doing 1-2000 miles a year? Josh
I believe there are companies that will do you a cheap limited mileage deal, which ones I've no idea but google limited mileage insurance and I'm sure you'll find the right companies

Purity14
If its 15+ years old, dont bother ringing Sky, get on to AON or Footman James, you will be paying £300ish a year, with full breakdown on their classic policy
ozz
I used to use a company called firebond for my Rs2000, no NCB needed and was a great price if you limit the mileage. They dealt with classic cars, had no issue insuring my MkIV RS so would probably do the MX5 as well. I had to supply valuation and pics of the cars to them, was a few years ago tho. Firebond ARE footman james, they will only insure 15+year old cars. Heritage classic insurance dont insure supras at all, only MK3's

I would think limiting the mileage would be the biggest factor in keeping it cheap.
