Willson
I went to the Suprapod event and was happy watching the drifting. But I was quite careful to make sure I kept my eyes on the cars as the spectator area was very close to the cars. I saw a couple with a baby in a pram and they were very close to the railings and neither of the parents were watching the cars and I thought it was a bit dodgy. Was I paranoid/over cautious/weird?! Me and the missus were next to them and the kid got sprayed with water numerous times then as the dad crouched in front of him to clean him off, a large stone flung up and hit the dad in the side. Had he not been there, the kid would have got ping'd for sure.
evinX
Cautious, never hurts to be cautious mate. I know what your saying, but you should see how tense it gets when the show girls get in the middle of the drift area and have cars come within inches of them, personally they are mad, becuase all it take is one 'miss calculation' by the driver and theyve had it...i dont trust them tbh. SupraDan24
I watched it from the railings and didnt feel safe at all with some of the drivers. I just kept a good eye on them.
Rich8v
I kept a couple of meters back from the railings, but surely that's just common sense not to get near a 1 tonne flat out car.
Rob_Mitchell
im sure someone will dig out the pucture of the car that went through the barriors... nearly hit mine, my mates and dads car.... soon moved them out the way after that
Supralad
im sure someone will dig out the pucture of the car that went through the barriors... After the first car clipped the barrier and his back bumper came off, myself and about 4 other cars looked at each other and moved back. 10mins later the red supra came steaming through infront of us, same bend. Was pretty dangerous though as it was so wet the cars could have come through at any time, all part of the fun though. I knew parking on the most difficult corner was a mistake, was fun though

I knew parking on the most difficult corner was a mistake, was fun though I think common sense is needed here, and leaving a baby next to the railings is not common sense, the amount of little kids I see at drag meetings without earphones is scandalous, maybe I should tie the parents to the back of my car and show em the anti lag. Willson
Yes, things happen, and that is why there is a big disclaimer and signs that say 'Motorsport is dangerous' I completely agree. It just amazed me how unsafe many of the spectators were. IMO Parents should keep their kids much further back. Is a kid really gonna know what to do when a car's coming his way, or is he just gonna rely on his parents to keep him out of harms way? I wonder who a parent would blame, if there were an accident. As it goes, the reason I started this thread, was I mentioned maybe having a go at a drift track to my missus and she said she couldnt live with herself if she was involved in (driving) an accident such as this, due to what we saw on Saturday. Gaz6002
You have to question the mentality of anyone who stands next to a track where motorsport is taking place. You don't see space enthusiasts sitting under the shuttle when it launches. Well, maybe Gav...
