SupraJames
Just wondering if anyone else with a Seibon TS Style Bonnet has had any issues with it fouling the fan shrowd as mine is hitting and not sure what to do you. Had a few issues but sorted most of the them, bonnet pinds needed to be cut down as would not fit behind UK light due to the adjuster motors. The bonnet clears my Greddy strut brace no probs, but is hitting on the shrowd, one solution would be edit the vent that is hitting and take off some of the height/angle of the vent, then just need to mod the hinges to take the lifters. Dont want to remove the shrowd as being a UK spec when I did this once before I had a problem with oil temp. Any ideas..? Thanks
SupraHuman
Nope, but I did have problems with the bonnet latches back when I had the same bonnet, did not go down far enough to lock in place.I had removed the shroud at the time so it was not a fitment issue as such, not the answer you were looking for but check it non the less. Swampy442
Cant you trim a bit off the fan shroud? You wont lose that much in terms of efficiency
SupraJames
Yeah was thinking of trimming the shrowd but would look very odd, my catches dont reach enough to lock in either but think that is cause of the vent hitting the shrowd, have aero catches so no real biggy there. SupraJames
I cant run with no shrowd, UK Auto's use the shrowd to duct over over an oil cooler I believe, took it once and had issues with oil temp.
hodge
Only way to do it if you want to keep the bonnet iscto trim the shroud. I had to do the very same thing with bosscos supra abs a TRD bonnet. Get yourself an angle grinder and sone polyfan discs and very gently start removing material. Don't push too hard cos these discs will tear through your bonnet very quickly. paul mac
not a TS bonnet more of a PM bonnet but when i went a bit mad with the depth of the vents this is how i soughted it, carbon fibre epoxied in
SupraJames
And cutting that section out stopping the bonnet from hitting..? Could be a solution
Scott
Only if your issues are definitely different to what Suprahuman had.
SupraJames
Yeah the catches not reaching is not a prob as I have aero catches, its just the fan shrowd i need to sort.
Chris Wilson
Out of curiosity can you weigh the new and the original bonnets please?
David Reid
Out of curiosity can you weigh the new and the original bonnets please? I would also be interested, I think there would be no difference between stock aluminium and a fible glass with carbon top skin.
Chris Wilson
I get a few Skylines in that have "carbon" bonnets and they have mainly been heavier than a stock alloy GTR one, as well as fitting where they touch. I thought Seibon were "real" carbon on carbon reinforcements though, or are they just a carbon skin on a stock alloy subframe?
SupraJames
Not sure but the bonnet is very light compared to what I currently have (Do Luck Hump skinned onto stock Ali), The Siebon one seems to be all CF, think there is some fibre glass used in the supports, but it is very light, will try and weight it for you. fastcar
Out of curiosity can you weigh the new and the original bonnets please? i Had a seibon carbon fibre bonnet on my supra. when i weighed it there was only 1-2kg diffrents between the cf and stock. i also had one repleca TRD cf from envyperformance aswell and that weighed more then stock with a real bad fit to so that went back. The seibon boot lid is lighter by about 8kg.
